Guest Philpy
I am a novice restorer who is in the process of rebuilding the motor of a 1914 Maxwell 25/4 Tourer. I am considering putting a new muffler on the car. Can anyone provide advice on size and suitability?thanks,
hddennis
Philpy, I don't know if this will help or not but here are two pages from my 1914-15 and 1916 Maxwell parts books. The part numbers are different but since Maxwell changed it's parts system between these two books the parts may actually be the same. I have an original muffler on my 1917 and it looks identical to these two. My car is in storage so I can't help with measurements but one thing I noticed is Maxwell must have felt back pressure was important as the muffler has the smallest outlet I've ever seen on a car. My guess would be about 1 inch inside diameter. Sorry I don't have more accurate sizes for you, Howard Dennis
hddennis
For some reason it refuses to add the 1914-15 page.
