NEW1966
Did Buick ever use these? I know that this is for 1958 Oldsmobile, but I would like to know if anyone knows if GM used them in any other cars. Thank You, GT Rfd, Ill.BCA # 11974
Guest ewing
I can tell you it was an option in the 58 pontiac. There is one in my dad's 58 pontiac which I now have.It is called a 'sportable radio' and shows as a $197 option on the car invoice.
sean1997
Buick offered one as an option in 1959. Here is some info:http://antiqueradio.org/buick.htmalso see the 1959 shop manuals. I don't know about 1960, but I can check my shop manuals when I get home.
Guest norb
59 only. I still have one in the leather case that plays great.
sean1997
Yep, Norb is right, '59 only. See chapter 11 of the 1959 Buick Chassis Service Manual. It shows all of the radios with some good details and it isn't shown in the '60 manual.

sean1997
They show up on ebay every so often, search for "Oldsmobile trans-portable" or "Oldsmobile transportable". There are some on ebay right now:http://cgi.ebay.com/Oldsmobile-1958-59-T...1QQcmdZViewItemhttp://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1958-58-O...sspagenameZWDVW
NEW1966
There is one on eBay right now starting at $24. Looks pretty rough, however still very rare. I paid alot for mine because it is in very good condition and because it is the first one I have ever owned in 30 plus years.
