Guest gryfan
i have a 1990 coupe with 90,000 miles......i had some rough performance in my engine.the fuel mileage dropped.i have it in to be looked at nad the mechanic says it may be the cam sensor.what is it and what does it do?is it the same as a crank sensor? thanks in advance gryfan
Ronnie
Read this before having it replaced. It could be just the magnet. Both are relatively easy to change. It sends a signal to the computer about the position of the camshaft. It is not the same as the crank sensor.
Guest gryfan
thanks ronnie, does a 1990 have both a crank sensor and a cam sensor?
Ronnie
I'm not certain but I think so. I'm sure someone here with a 1990 model can better answer your question.
Guest Bob from Ga.
GRYFAN,Welcome to the site...there is an abundance of good and helpful folks on here to provide you guidance with keeping your Reatta running smooth. The 1990 does have both a camshaft sensor and a crankshaft sensor. They work together, somewhat but, are two different sensors.
Guest kennyw
The car will not run with a bad crank sensor. It will run with a bad cam sensor. Computer puts car in limp mode, [average settings]. Perfermance and milage suffer......ken
