Guest imouttahere
My understanding of the Stewart carburetor is that the metering pin is supposed to be attached to its carrier/rack. I think the factory swaged them together. If they come apart, the metering pin can get stuck in the air valve and lift up with it, giving symptoms of fuel starvation very similar to those caused by a clogged fuel line, bad vacuum tank, etc.Am I wrong??? AM I WRONG?????? If so, please tell me now. I can accept it.I think I wasted a lot of time trying to find a problem in the gas tank, fuel line and vacuum tank! The old timers will tell you that there is nothing that can go wrong with the Stewart carb, which may be true unless part of it is broken. The pin and rack are made from brass. How would you suggest joining them back together? Silver solder, maybe? I tried to swage or stake them, but they came apart again.Billy
