Guest imouttahere
I have a '22 touring car with the multi-plate clutch. It is not releasing correctly. I have plenty of adjustment left, but how can I tell if I would be in danger of pushing the rearmost driven plate off its pins if I were to give it more adjustment? The instruction manual recommends using gasoline to wash the clutch plates, by putting 2 quarts of gas in the clutch housing, turning the engine over, and then draining the clutch housing. Can you recommend any solvent that is, perhaps, not as dangerous as gasoline, but will still wash the clutch plates adequately? Thanks!
nearchoclatetown
Brake Clean is better, but you can get a serious buzz from it. Make sure your not in an enclosed area. While you are in there make sure all the clutch plates are seperate, a few of mine were stuck together and made shifting difficult. I pushed in the clutch and used a screwdriver to make sure the plates could easily slide back and forth on the shaft. The brake clean finished the job. Guest imouttahere
Thanks for the reply. I didn't realize that removing the inspection plate lets you see the disks. Brake cleaner it is. My dumb!
