Guest imported_woodwheels
The trans interchange list for the DeSoto is long, for the Plymouth truck it is very short assuming the Plymouth retains its PT-57 or PT-81 engine and bell housing. If the Plym has a real 39 Plym truck engine and trans the list includes transmissions from 32-49 trucks by Dodge, Fargo and Studebaker, no DeSotos. All have a T-163 main drive gear. The T-163 trans was used by more than 30 different makes of truck from 1/2-2 ton. There were 9 different versions of the T-163 transmission.Plymouth in '39 also used a T-234 trans. This was a 3 speed only and lists as interchanging with Dodge truck '37-40 and Plymouth truck 37-39.If you have a Plym engine from a passenger car your troubles ar greatly relieved. The interchange list widens to a host of Chrysler product transmissions and several non Chrysler products as well. Identify your engine by engine # and block casting number and go from there. JACK M
Thanks for the input. The owner has purchased a Hollanders interchange book and is still trying to figure it out.I STILL NEED A FUEL FILL TUBE FOR THE DESOTO ! !
