Mike C
I have a 1915 C37 Buick touring. The engine needs to come out to do the babbitting, but I can't get the engine and transmission to separate. The leather faced cone clutch just doesn't want to come out of the flywheel - all I can get is about 3/4" of gap between the block and the tranny.2 Questions: 1 - How do I get the engine and transmission to separate;2 - Who does clutch resurfacing (I heard Kevlar is a good substitute for leather.)But HELP please - how to I get the two apart. The clutch worked fine before teardown, so I know it's not broken and jammed. Thanks!Mike in Colorado
Mark Shaw
Mike,I have a pdf drawing that I can email to you if you send me an offline email... durcodude@comcast.net Study this drawing and you should see what you need to do.Be very careful with the clutch spring. It must be compressed with a jig to remove the retaining nut and then carefully released.
Mark Shaw
Mike, I converted the PDF to a jpeg file. See attached photo.
