Wig-Wag stop light operation question

A friend has acquired a Wig-Wag stop light for use on his 1930 Commander. The question that now arises is how does the vacuum motor operate to move the lamp back and forth?

There is a pipe connection at the lamp unit for vacuum but is there supposed to be a vacuum valve somewhere in the brake pedal system to turn vacuum on and off from the engine manifold to the lamp when the brake pedal is pressed and then released?

We would appreciate hearing from any one with a Wig-Wag light system that works.

As far as I know there was a solenoid valve that turned the vacuum on.

The original valves are hard to find but a Skinner 6 Volt DC solenoid has been known to work.

These are industrial valves.

I am not sure if they made a 6 volt DC valve but sometimes a 110 volt AC valve will work on 6 volt DC.

This is because DC does not create a counter EMF .

Some experimenting might be needed.

Hopefully someone else comes up with some original valves.

If not get back to me.

I have some of these Skinner valves somewhere and you know how much junk I have in this building.
