2. Helow one and all firstly thanks to everyone who answered any of my posts lately .I have been busy whith the 55 drive train project.Although i am not very skilled as a machanic i am very lucky to have a good freind helping me and dont worry he lets me do most of the dirty work.On to my next question a power rack for my 55 century has anyone ever tried to fit one to a standard front end and if so what brand ect.I have to order rack from US because its a left hand drive.Or dose any one know of a larger supplyer were i can get one to suit that may do overseas freight. Stay well and happy regards Patrick Maiden bca au 991
3. Hellow Don just thought i would let you know although i live in Austraila i have found no one on the net who dose headers for a 322. I hade someone make mine by had using stainless .I could post a pic if it would help you as they are out of my 55 at the moment.the guy put at left hand manifold in a vise using it as a dummy engine then started building right hand header from there cost my about $700 aussy i can tell you that after they went on motor reved out cleanly Befor it like it hit a wall and it would no rev any more nor did i push it either I dont push cars its just nice when you know everything is working the way it should. Kind regards Patrick Maiden bca/au 991
4. I am after right hand dash complete for my 55 century as i live in South African or Auzzi ect kind regards Patrick Maiden BCC aus /nsw 991/&(Cristian rods and customs member) www.problock@ iprimus .com.au
5. Hellow one and all Just wondering what complete differental/rear brakes/ torque tube/and dynaflow might be worth out of my 55 century no noise or vibs from diff but low speed blown on dynaflow .I am converting to open drive train SO LOOKING TO SELL Patrick Maiden BCAu 991 nsw 1955 buick century www.problock .com.au Sydney Australia
6. Thanks guys for your replys. Bill the trouble in Australia is that its hard at times to sourse parts ie st 400(and if u could they would be a bit dear) When chev t 400 are every where. What i would like to do is drop a 425/401 st 400 in it but the ol balance of payments and trying to find these parts makes it a bit of a ask.And looking at the positive side for a second or two it keeps the engine bay standard and the way the price of petrol is going up a 322 may well be the pick anyway( thats what i tell my senceable side anyway)A freind of mine has a c10 ford box suitable for reco he will give me but dont know of any company that will do adapter for this for my 322.There seems more choises for 364:and bigger. What i dont understand is how those switch pitch st 400 work but sound trick. The only real reason i doing this job is that getting dynaflows recoed in aus is a bit of a hit and miss affair whith the common story being of tranny being pulled out more than once parts like pump housing cracking tring to to find these parts ect . The fact that i love the 55 but plan to drive it a fair bit with my family. With some round trips up to 1000 km to get weekend get togthers ect. Looking forward to hearing how 322 goes with new box Willie Kind regards hope all are well and happy Patrick Maiden BCAu 991 nsw
7. Hellow every one just wondering if anyone may have had experence with transmission adapter plates verses a bellhousing to mate things up for a 322 buick to chev t 400 transmission ?I dont know if anyone makes a bellhousing type adapter in US .But i do know a company who do adapter plate kit with flywheel.$595.00 us www.transmissionadapters.com Has anyone had experece with these types of job before and would any one know of a company who do bellhousing cast type kit. Any feed back would be greaty apreciated. Regards Patrick Maiden BCAus 991 nsw
8. Thanks guys for your reply and taking the time to explain in detail the issues involved with pics alway makes it easy to understand for the uninitiated. I did not check my post for a little while. Things seemed a bit quiet but when i opened it today had a VERY pleasent surprise indeed. Thanks again Matt and John C. I will be going ahead with the conversion just purchased 9"ford rear differential with disc brakes and driveshaft so onward ect.I must admit that if i lived in USA would not be even thinking of going to all this trouble. But do not have confidence in getting dynaflow fixed properly in Australia.Need second hand pump and bits ect. Thanks again this guys regards Patrick Maiden BCAust 991 nsw
9. Thank guys for your replys this gives me a better idea of what the end result would be.Willies convertible that sounds nice. Patrick Maiden BCAu 991 nsw
10. Thanks old guy for your reply.Yes i will have to put a adaptor plate/ bellhousing onto 322 .I have a blown dynaflow in car at the moment (low speed blown, drive and reverse still work)Can have dynaflow rebuilt about $2500.00 auzzi dollars,And i am told cant be certain about being reliable. And may blow again. So t400 or as you said t 700 would be the go, and sounds like a dodge phoenix diff ? because in Australia there about quarter the price of other diffs, I dont have deep pockets but i would rather let the 55 sit and save for the right way to get this thing done than risk it happening again.also have post about the possiblity of changing standard diff fom enclosed to open drive train? 11. Hello one and all. What performance could i expect out of a 322/ in a 1955 century with the follwing mods mid size cam from ta performance( ta 30) =in .426 ext.426 at (0.050 in 228 ext 244 overlap@.0508 fitted with rhoades lifters to reduces duration 10 to 15 degrees 0.20 to 0.30 at idle revs then has full pump at 3500 rpm . Stage 1 heavier valve springs.Extractors, electronic dizzy and graft 600vac holley to standard 4 barrel manifold.I just wondering which set up might work better or what hp or even better what the car would drive like in the real world? Would it have loss of bottom, end to what extent ect.Is this type of lifter more trouble than what their worth on a old engine? I have been told that any particles in engine will block these very easly. Have had trouble with dynaflow so plan to put t400 box in . Any feed back would be greatly appreciated Patrick Maiden BCAu 991 nsw problock@iprimus.com.au
12. Hello everybody in the big ol world.I was wondering if a standard diff 1955 can be converted to a open drive shaft for reasons of not haveing to disgard parts.I do realise there are other issues involved ie holding diff by parallel four bar as one option, that has a currently thread in forum at moment but just concerned about diff at the moment. Kind regard to one and all Patrick Maiden BCAu 991 nsw problock@iprimus.com.au
13. Hellow Ken 29 tourer .Was thinking of 225/70or 75 /15 on front instead of existing 205/75/15 that are on front at moment. If i here on any chrome rally wheels or any 54 parts will let you know .I would love to go to Bendigo swap meet on day. Someone i was talking to said there was a bit of 50"buick stuff there trouble is you need a truck and fist full of dollars just in case, you never know . kind regards Patrick Maiden BCAU #991 nsw
14. re Ken 29 Tourer on the car are 15" chrome smoothies with 205 /70/ 15 front and 235/ 75/ 15 rear but after what you said i may change to the larger size up front. I do notice that it dose seem to transfer a fair but of road shock back into the car so what you suggest makes sense. Kind regards Patrick Maiden bc/au 991 nsw
15. Thanks Dave i will be ordering parts through you .(when funds permit and i can find tranny man suitable to see whitch parts are needed))Could i ask you question if thats possible Dave as per my first posting (dynaflow blew low still workes in drive and reverse).Do dynaflows like steep inclines? I like the way dynaflows drive but my driveway is short but has fair incline. And are there any tricks ect to putting these things together? I do realize as well as beeing a club member you are running a busisness and as all of us time is is allways in short supply but if you had time to answer these ones i would be greatfull regards Patrick Maiden bc/au #991 Nsw
