2. Thanks to jake, earl and alan for supporting lincolns I will be able to roll/start one in the next few days. (hopefully around tuesday next week) also big thanks to this forum and some answers, (great source for us new to lincoln folks) if all goes well can get started on interior and finishing a beautiful car.

  3. have two switches for steering column, one has key lock with a flip switch for off/on, the other has a key lock with a push pull knob that can be pulled when unlocked. which one is correct for 40 continental ? have purchased service manuals and various literature but no good pictures or assembly instructions for steering, shifter and steering lock

  4. have two column switches that lock the steering wheel, one has lever that is fliped between off and on one has push pull switch that can be pilled when unlocked by the key... which one is for 40 lincoln continental h series body 06h56..

  5. peecher, Thanks, got off here for a few head gaskets just came in from earl. wow I am impressed by his fast service and he said he was in his 70s. sounds like 44 to 45 would be pefect torque had not about valve stems.. will make a note to start with 20/50 but engine complete overhauld. and was just started when leak showed up. do you know anything about paint question????

  6. as previous posted have 40 lincoln continental. Due to alum head problems decided to go with cast (have ordered). Is torque on head bolts same? After I install heads and rebuild distributor (sent to jake today) next step is steering outer column and shifter. dash great shape, (appears repainted) is there a spray paint avaiable commercialy avaiable, acceptable to match the interior as the shift column is scratched up and I am going to have to purchase a replacement outer steering column. Another question, car set 11 years partially complete.. Engine rebuilt but one head off. Is it best to oil cyliners before rolling and what type oil in cylinders and case

  7. I'm new here and new to the 12 cylinder Lincoln.. Hope you do not give up. I'm sure you got in for the same reson as me because the cars back then had and have history, style and personality and in the case of lincoln, at least to me, beauty. I own several classic cars but still mass produced in the thousands.. seems to me you a real bad day if you even think of droping one of those in...... but in either case hope things work out

cboz,

do not see anyone saying different but I'll keep watching, went to farm and picked my head up to take to shop this week. be "in market" for cast iron if they cannot repair.
