  1. Tried that once - unfortunately, the cost for the attractive young lady was more than the cost for the wiper replacement.
  2. What Runs means is to push the back pins in, pull down back, then latch the front. Puts less strain on the pull-down motor.
  3. Here are the pictures - The color is Exotic Red - the pics are a little more orange than the car is in real life. The link is here: <table style="width:194px;"><tr><td align="center" style="height:194px;background:url(http://picasaweb.google.com/f/img/transparent_album_background.gif) no-repeat left"></td></tr><tr><td style="text-align:center;font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:11px">TC</td></tr></table> <embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://picasaweb.google.com/s/c/bin/slideshow.swf" width="288" height="192" flashvars="host=picasaweb.google.com&RGB=0x000000&feed=http%3A%2F%2Fpicasaweb.google.com%2Fdata%2Ffeed%2Fapi%2Fuser%2Fopmrocks%2Falbumid%2F5258979266133912881%3Fkind%3Dphoto%26alt%3Drss%26authkey%3DomB7zp7TkcE" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"></embed>
  4. Sold the MP SMEC, so lowering the price accordingly + a little more for incentive's sake. Make me an offer - also open to trades - let me know what you have (if it's got 4 wheels, it needs to be an ATV or smaller!), and no, I won't trade to take over your mortgage! 2 owner car. Clean carfax. I've had her since 1998 and she's been great. Mechanically perfect - I avg. 24 mpg. 2.2 Turbo II The good: 1. 2 SMECS - original, shelby (on her now - will not pass CA smog - I tried). 2. Came with Black dash trim - most have been traded out to woodgrain. All original parts included. 3. Stereo and speakers have been replaced with blaupunkt (88 watts/mp3/am/fm/single DIN system) and Infinity 4. In last month, replaced: Tires, fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel lines, lebaron windshield, AC recharge 5. Replaced in the past 10 years: radiator, all brakes (about 10k miles ago) 6. Lots of spare parts (rear brake light covers, visors, etc.) 7. Soft top in excellent condition 8. Almost all of the TC Club newsletters, shop manual, parts sheets 9. All other original accessories except umbrella The Bad: 1. Hardtop windows fogged 2. Normal wear and tear on seats and arm rest - no tears 3. Small dent in left front quarter panel and hood - a box fell on it in the garage - I think a dentpro type service can fix it. 4. Normal door dings - nothing major. 5. Couple of surface scratches on the back deck from the hardtop pins that go into tonneau - not too bad - result of a bad less than perfect attempt at putting on the hardtop. Great car, extremely dependable. Too many cars, need to let her go to someone that will appreciate her. She's a steal at this price. Email me if interested with an offer: bill@opmrocks.com Pics coming in a couple of days. Car is in zip 94549.
  5. Wow - thanks guys. I'll show the pics to the autoglass guys, and if they don't feel confident doing it, I'll either find another autoglass co. or contact car_chick for the replacement. Thanks again! Bill
  6. Yep - he did the whole thing - fuel filter, fuel lines, etc. I can hear the new fuel pump hum a bit when I'm idling, but my mechanic said that's normal - the newer pumps have a lot less insulation in the housing.
  7. Hi All, Unfortunately, my windshield had a chip that turned into a pretty good spiderweb crack - it's time to get it replaced. I went to the replacement place and they had some concern over removing the top chrome trim piece - they think it's glued in and they'll have to slowly cut it away from the car and re-use it for installation. As you all know, finding another trim piece is difficult to impossible. Has anyone been through this, and if so, what was your experience and how did the glass installers remove the top trim piece (without damage!). Thanks for any help - Bill
  8. Just replaced my original fuel pump on my '89 red/ginger. Wasn't starting when the engine was hot. Also noticed sluggish performance. My mechanic tells me all should be fine from now on.
  9. I'd ask him about the following: 0. Drivetrain? Engine/Turbo/tranny OK? 1. Headlights - any rock holes? 2. All other electronics (ABS brakes, signals, adjustable seats, etc.) still working? 3. A/C? (if you care). 4. Oil leaks? 5. Hard top? Does he still have it? 6. Cosmetic/fixable, but I'd still ask: hood/trunk/tonneau all stay open on their own (struts), pull down for soft top still work, does he have the hard top, other accessories (spare tire, umbrella, owner's manual, etc.). You can still find almost all of the critical parts you'll need. I can't think of anything off the top of my head that you can't get either from other TC members (parting out), evil-bay, or using other brands (GM, le barons, etc.). I'd take a look at it for you, but it's about 45 minutes from where I live and I'm heading out this weekend on one last vacation before school starts for the kids.
  10. Here's another one - might pick this one up myself - it's the same year/color as mine - and use it as a parts car, but that would be shame... http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/cto/784245441.html
  11. On Craigslist - not mine, but thought someone else might be interested. Let me know if I can help - I work out in Pleasanton (old PeopleSoft building). http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/cto/791274354.html
  12. Hi All, Newbie here. I used to spend a lot of time on my '89 TC but due to other commitments (kids, wife, life) and other hobbies, it's been a few years since I've done more than drive my TC around during the summer. I haven't kept up with costs, prices, upgrades, or anything else. My current '89 has about 50k miles and runs like a champ. I could use it for a daily driver but only put about 2k miles a year on it. Besides a few parking lot door dings and the normal wear/tear on the seat and center console leather, it's almost as good as new. So, my quandry is this: The owner of the local Dodge Dealer recently passed away - was a neighbor or mine - and his wife is now selling her Turbo '89 TC - Cabernet/Ginger/Black - only 17k miles. Near mint. The only things I could find wrong were oxidation on the rims and instrument cowling looks like the leather wasn't secured correctly on the windshield side. Everything else looks great and it was maintained by the Dodge dealer. She'd sell it to me for $5k. The last thing I need is another car - I already have 5 - so if I pick this one up I'd sell my other TC. However, it looks like prices (at least on eBay) have been steadily falling over the past few years and it doesn't look like I'd get more than a few $k. At that price, I might as well part it out (hate doing that to a perfectly running car). Any suggestions? Cheers - Bill
