  4. Mr. Earl The listing for the 54 Century in Atlanta has expired and I could not find a new listing on Craigslist. Do you have any aditional information on this car like if it sold or a contact number? Randy
  5. Mr. Earl Thank you for yuor reply and assistance. Randy
  6. I know the 55 Roadmaster and Super are larger on the outside than the Special and Century, but do all models share the same frame. More specifically, would a tranny cross member from a Century be the same as a tranny cross member from a Roadmaster? Randy
  7. Please e-mail me photos and info about the make and axles @ rjbe2003@yahoo.com. Thanks!
  8. Guys Thanks for the replies. Your information/suggestions will be very helpful in getting these things looking better. I did not know about the stainless under the chrome on the spinners, but had already decided that I would get them rechromed when the time came.
  9. I am restoring a set of 56 spinner hub caps and have a question about the square decorative trim that goes all the way around the outside of the cap in line with the valve stem hole. These indentations appear to be coated with something that has a rough, silver finish, almost like relective silverpaint, although I am pretty sure it is not reflective. What can be used to refinish these areas of the cap or is it better to remove the finish that is there leaving a bright SS finish?
  10. How about the Roadmaster script for the trunk on a 55? I need one.
  11. Mike and Lamar Thanks for your replies. They were very helpful.
  12. Are front doors interchangeable for all four Buick models in 1955 or are the doors for the RM and Super different than those for a Special or Century? My car is a 55 RM 2 door hardtop Riviera. Randy <!-- / message -->
  13. JohnD Sorry for the late reply. I don't need one immediately, but when I get ready to restore my car I will need one. I will be on the lookout for one in the interim. Randy
  14. Does a 55 Roadmaster w/ Dynaflow use the same tranny chassis crossmember with any other year of Buick or other GM brand or am I limited to find one off a 55 Roadmaster? Randy
  15. Barnes In the photo of your car, it appears to sit low. How did you accomplish this ride height? Please share. Randy
  16. 1959SuperPDX Nice pics. Couldn't help but noticing the red lerrering on your front bumper. Did you do that? If so, what did you use to get such good results? Randy
  17. How is the Roadmaster emblem/badge attached to the front bumper of a 49 Roadmaster or Slpecial? It has two tabs on the backside with a hole in each tab. The old one has spring attached to thses two tabs. Any thoughts? Randy
  18. Hey Guys Thanks for All of the suggestions. I am still chasing this issue. I changed the plugs and wires, but noise is still there. Will keep trying. Randy
  19. Pete Thanks for your reply. I don't know exactly where the noise is coming from since it only happens when I am going over 30 or 40 mph. I think it sounds like it is coming from the engine compartment. Each time it has occurred it has been on a smooth asphalt surface. The last time it did it, I got it home, put it in park, raised to rpm's to what I think they were when it started making the noise and held it there for a couple of minutes. No noise. The lifters do sound a little clicky to me when I am under the hood. I beleive this car has hydraulics and should not be noisy. This weekend I am going to put some GM EOS to see if that will make the lifter noise go away and maybe also the popping noise I hear at cruising speed. Randy
  20. We purchased a 1949 Roadmaster Sedanette about a month ago. We have had it out for drives a number of times with no problems. However, about two weeks ago we drove to a friends house about 10 miles away and on the way home, about a mile from our house at about 45 mph it started to make a popping noise, similar to popcorn popping. I slowed down and it went away. I thought it might have been a stuck thermostat causing the engine to over heat so I changed the thermostat. took it out and same thing. The car starts with no problem, idles without hesitation, runs well at speeds under 30 mph, but get up over 30 and the noise starts. The popping is erratic and doesn't seem to be in sync with rpms or anything like that. The only thing I have done to the car is fill it up with premuim and added some lead substitute. Any ideas what might be happening? Randy
  21. Thanks for the responses guys. I found the correct ride height in the front of the shop manual - a little over 11 inches, so our car is approximately 4 inches too high all the way around. I will check all your suggestions and go from there. Please forward ant other suggestion that may come to mind. Thanks! Randy
  22. We recently purchased a 49 Roadmaster Sedanette. The car appears to sit fairly high, especially in the front. The bottom of the front and rear bumpers are both 15 inches, but the car is noticably higher in the front than the back. I have looked at various sorces for this information, but have not found anything. Does anybody know the ride height of this vehicle? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! Randy
  23. Mike Thanks for the response. What kind of rust does it have and are the two tabs on the bottom of the fender between the wheel well and the rear of the fender that attached the fender to the frame in good shape. I live in Florida. Any experience in shipping something that large? Randy
  24. Looking for fender in very good shape with little or no rust. Randy
