  2. A while back I had asked for a recommendation for the restoration of the running boards on my 40 Packard. Thanks to the response from this forum, I received them yesterday via UPS from Mr Acuff in Ga. He had recoated my running boards and they turned out fantastic. Thanks again, to this forum as it is a very valuable tool in supporting the hobby!

  8. Dave, I am curious about the book Jim Hollinsworth wrote about the 40 Packard. Where can I get a copy? I am so excited because my Dad and I went to LaPlace, La in 1984 and brought back a 1940 110 Conv Cpe back to Va. Recently, he called me and said "come and get the Packard, you're gonna get it anyway so you may as well enjoy it" Needless to say, I was overwhelmed!! Now I'm looking for information about the car.   11. Hey Guys, I hate to keep beating a dead horse, but I thought I would try once again to see if someone might have some information regarding the Piedmont Motor Car Company. The cars were built between 1917 -1922, in Lynchburg, Va. manufactured under the names of Piedmont, Lone Star, Bush and Alsace. I'm familar with the info listed in the "Standard Catalog of American cars", so I'm hoping that someone may see this post and may have something new. Thanks for the input! Steve P

  13. The engine is actually a Model "DXU" serial no. S44664 that was originally in a 1917 Piedmont. I've got a Parts Price List for a Model "DU" dated 9/25/18 but nothing else. Thanks for the response. Steve P

  15. Thanks for the response......... I've only found a bit here and there about the Lone Star. It appears that the Piedmont Motor Car Co, Lynchburg, Va. produced them for a couple of years (1919 - 1920?). I'm not sure about the numbers because all that was different was the radiator emblem between the Piedmont, Bush, and the Lone Star. There was a new dealer building, 4 stories, built in EL Paso as noted in an ad dated March 16, 1921 that was touted as "state of the art" I wish I had more info, but as of now I am still in the search mode.

  17. Gents, I followed everyones advice and checked out the system. The vacuum system when measured at the fuel inlet side of the tank is pulling about 5" of Hg. This appears to awfully weak............ Any comments? Steve P
  18. Guys, I appreciate all of the input. I'm kinda a original type guy, so I'm going to try and solve the vacuum tank issue. It's Thanksgiving week and I'm on vacation so I can't think of anything better to do. It's 73 degrees outside and the sun is shining, I'm heading to my "mancave". Happy Thanksgiving!!
  19. I am struggling with the fuel system on my 1919 Bush. I understand the vacuum tank that provides fuel is the same as a Franklin. I have diagnosed every part of the system and cannot find anything that would creat a problem. My question, does anyone have any info such as sketches or drawings that help explain the operation and the design concept. It sounds like it sould be pretty simple, but the internal parts of the tank are full of rods, springs, float, and linkages.It doesn't quite make any sense. I'd just like to get it fixed........... Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  20. I'm interested if anyone may know of any cars still around that were built in Lynchburg Va. during the years of 1917 - 1922 under the name of Piedmont, Bush, or Lone Star. I understand that there may be as many as 5 of the Bush's still around but I only know of one that was built in 1919. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks,
