  1. As it turned out, I replaced the Brake Light switch and it seems to have cured the problem.
  2. And CHMSL is Center High Mounted Stop Lamp
  3. Yes folks, sorry meant brake lights. Guess I will try a new switch. Thanks!
  4. Hi, I just got my 90 conv out of the garage after sitting since December, and I noticed the brake lights came on and would not go off. I had just checked the brake fluid level and depressed the brake pedal 25 times with the key off and they then stayed on. And by the way the CHMSL does continue to work as intended off the pedal switch. So last night I disconnected the battery, but then afew minutes later reconnected it, and the brake lights work normally! So We tried it again today, with my daughters help (it's actually her car), and the lights seemed to work normally. I performed the same brake fluid level procedure, with no problem then had her take it around the block. When she returned, the lights stayed on as they had yesterday. We pumped the pedal a few times and no difference. I then disconnected the battery and only momentarily, and they came back on. Then I disconnected it waited 5 min, and reconnected it and they operated normally. I had her start the car up and apply the brake and they stayed on. so I am concluding that there is some interaction with the engine running and the application of the brakes that makes the lights stay on and it is separate form the signal to the CHMSL. Any clues? or similar experience out there that can diagnose this please? Thanks, Bill N
  5. Thanks for all your insights. I checked with my insurer and I have a $250 deductible so I will go thru them. Interestingly, while one shop quoted $2200, another one I checked with indicated they could get the Pilkington one and install it for just over $1300. so there is a a wide margin it appears.
  6. Hi, Thanks for all your prompt and thorough responses. I just got a call from the local glass shop. (Henderson) and they said they could get a windshield for $2200. I guess they have gone up a bit! Anyway, I am going to call our insurance co next and determine how much they are willing to share in this. Then proceed. I would like to put a new one in. I am located outside Detroit so the trip to GA is out of the question. If Picklington woudl allow me to pick one up in Columbus, I would consider going to their warehouse, but doubt they want to do that.
  7. Hi, My daughter just informed me that the windshield in her 1990 conv, has begun to crack across the lower middle. I called the glass shop and they indicated they didn't have a new one in stock, would have to check elsewhere and get back to me. Are these truely hard to find, or just maybe a problem for this particular shop? do I have to go hunt for a good used one? or are NOS ones still around? Thanks, Bill
  8. Unfortunately those are Tan, even though they appear as light gray, thanks,
  9. Hi, My Daughter lost the LH Horn button on her 1900 Reatta, does anyone out there have a light gray one for sale? Thanks, Bill wrn63@att.net
  10. Hi, I have a nice 1990 conv, I bought for my daughter a few years back, and it didn't have any FOB with it. A friend had a spare at home, and gave it to me. It is brand new and the model number on it is 22071507, with a TX FCC ID GLQ33P-1507. Can you tell me if this is correct for the 1990 Reatta or not? I haven't tried to program it to the car yet till I confirm it is correct. Thanks! Bill
  11. Oh yeah, and the radio hasn't been removed or serviced in several years if ever.
  12. Hi, Well I went out and confirmed with the door closed, engine running, radio playing, I turn the radio off and the antenna stays raised. However, when In open the door it retracts.
  13. Hi, When I ahve the radio off, and I turn the ignition on, the antenna raises.
  14. Hi, I have two 15 inch Buick hub caps for sale, they are used but in excellent condition. (see attached photos). I am unsure of the year they apply to, but they are late model. (I would guess in the late 70's.) Price $100 pluss shipping. I am in the Detroit area. Bill 248-632-3138
  15. Thank you all, I seriously doubt it is the antenna itself as the antenna does raise and lower properly with the activation of the ignition switch, and it is the original factory antenna and radio. The new experience, (over the last week), is that now when I turn the radio off the antenna doesn't lower, but stays in the raised position. When I turn the ignition off the antenna lowers. And of course when it moves I can hear the motor operate it. I am thinking it may be the relay, although the other puzzle here is that with the radio shut off, I hear a faint static noise from the speaker just behind the drivers seat, which was leading me to think that the radio somehow was providing some power even in the shut down mode.
  16. Hi, I have an issue with my daughter's 90 Reatta conv. The antenna raises normally when the ignition is turned on , and lowers when the ignition is turned off, but when I turn the radio power button off, the antenna doesn't retract, and on occasion I hear a static noise coming from the rear speaker even witht he power off. I suspect the circuitry int he radio power circuit is the culpret, but take this opportunity to ask if anyone here has had a simialr experience and what resolved it. thanks Bill
  17. Thanks for the replies, I plan to change the tires next week, so that may shorten the list and give me a better idea.
  18. I am seeking 4 very nice 1990 wheel center caps for my refinished wheels. Bill N
  19. Hi, I have a 1990 Reatta Conv, with 86K on it.and am experiencing a cyclical vibration in the floor and seat, whenever I turn the wheel the least bit to the left. If I turn it to the right it immediately goes away. More noticeable at 70 mph, but there at all speeds, and a little worse warmed up than cold. Any ideas the cause? The struts and mounts were just changed, and the steering rack inspected, and found ok. Bill
  20. Hi, my Reatta is in need of new shocks and struts, but when checking with Delco they no longer list a rear shock for this model. What's the best alternative? or does someone know of a source of OEM shocks? Bill N. #874
  21. Hi, I am a relatively new member, and I live within 50 miles of Flint. I would like to meet the Reatta folks, but am not staying at the motel. I also plan to have a swap space at the BCA meet. Is the best time to drop by the Wingate Friday or Saturday?? Bill Nichols #874
  22. FYI, I painted two different floors, my old garage floor which I acid etched before painting, and an new floor. I used the rustoleum product on the old floor, which doesn't get a lot of traffic, and it has chipped easily, ans come up in a couple of places, possibly due to insufficient cleaning. On the new floor I used a product called U Coat it. That has worked very well, wears like iron. I put a little sand in the rustoleum but it makes it harder to sweep up. I didn't int he new garage and we have to be very careful when we walk in with snow on our boots.
  23. I had the same problem and it turned out to be the ECM(Engine Contol Module) that wasn't firing one of th einjectors. Easy to diagnose. Mine would come and go at idle also, so when it was acting up, I pulled the injector connectors off and looked for a drop in RPM, when I didn't get one, I knew something was up with that injector. I then plugged a test light into the injector connector, and it didn't illuminate, so I checked the continuity of the wire and it was fine, leading me to suspect and change the ECM. Replacment at the auto parts store was $95.
  24. Hi, Well I finally had time to work on it today, and checked out the injectors, they all worked fine, but I did a check with it running and cyl. 3 wasn't firing the injector. I did a continuity check on that injector wire and it was OK. Replaced the ECM as recommended by radiotradio and that did the trick. Thanks for your inputs.
