1. Whoops.... Attached the wrong pic -- sorry Randy! The pic I attached, previously, was the one I took when you "got lost" under the hood.... Here you are demonstrating the results of yer solid mekanik-nuss.... The Red Rocket's "Cruise" werked flawlessly for the full duration of my I-90 Return-Pilgrimage-Fun. Thanks again, mawn! Craig P.S. Say "Hey" to Diane, for moi.
2. THANKS AGAIN, RANDY!! Your Reatta-prowess certainly served me well, last Friday! Seeing as yer driveway represented my STARTING-POINT for my cross-nation return pilgrimage to Canada's Fruit Belt....it was my dumb luck that your Reatta Mastery led to prompt solve-munt of my "Sudden Escape of Cruise Control Function". [The concept of 1,968 miles along I-90, without Cruise....sorta makes me mental..] It turns-out that the Dealership's mechanic who hung a last-minute tune-up on my '91 Red Rocket, prior to my having taken delivery.....must have inadvertently "parted" the Cruise-related vacuum tee, semi-hidden at the L-side firewall... While driving to your place, coincidentally located only moments north of said Dealership, I detected that Mr. Cruise was suddenly "gonzo"..... ....."but, but....B-U-T(!).....it had "werked" during my 'fishull Test Drive of the rig, mere hours, previous". Thanks for discovering the breached 'Cruise' Vac Line. That reminds me....I still owe you the $300.00 that you asked for, to cover "your" supply of replacement Vac Tee. My research, since, suggests that you're right!!: Plastic prices a-r-e "Way Up"! Of course, you'll understand when I suggest that my pay-munt of said Vac Tee is "(probably lost) in the Mail".... IN ALL SERIOUSNESS It was my distinct pleasure to have met you and your wife as well as "Not-A-Mekanik". I feel very fortunate to consider you a Buddy, Sir! You're an obvious asset to this Forum and based upon what I've witnessed.....you're plain-and-simple good for our Planet! Thanks fer bein' you, Sir! Regards, Craig His 'n' His '91 Astro Coupes (Oxford White 'n' Andretti Red) P.S. I've attached a pic of our Vac-Tee-Fun...
3. Randy-mawn, In spite of the great odds (against) it seems that I have solved the 'little issue' previously experienced with my (personal) "PM - function". Should you opt to invest a little bit of "gentle", with respect to your reply to my earlier suggestion, it will not go un-noticed, sir. Later, skater. CS-mawn
4. 'Twas feeling a smidge hurt that your absence-of-reply might suggest that you believed that I should p_ _ _-off with respect to said soiree. Shall invest (possibly) the next several hours, attempting to solve my (personal) PM dilemma..... Later-mawn, CS
5. Probably everyone involved in this Forum has been exposed, in the past, to the games that a potential used car Buyer will engage in, in an effort to negatively impact a used car's Selling Price. If it isn't "these ten things" that sicken the potential Buyer, it'll be "those ten things". Regardless of how anybody slices it, the Reattae are: - assembled a-la-Pininfarina (unique as all-get-out in that regard), - limited in available supply, - one unique looking unit -- (And, in my experience) held by the general public as: "what the heck is that??!?" (That's a "positive" in my book...) - (In my experience) Generally bullet proof -- for sure you have to perform ALL the necessary, timely routine maintenance...but any savvy vehicle owner undertakes timely routine maintenance. (Am I Right??!) - As a proud Reatta owner, I cull nothing but positive vibes from this BCA-Reatta Forum. I'll admit to being new to this Forum, however, I've yet to read a post which denounces the Reatta....or any other Buick for that matter. The postings to this Forum have directly resulted in my accomplishing Reatta system repairs, which would have been further complicated, in the absence of this resource. It's my opinion that this Forum is All Good!.....and valuable to any Reatta Owner. Additional Car-Selling Strategy: In this geographic area (Pacific NW) I've had startling success when I've advertised my (pampered, pre-owned) rigs For Sale in the Buy 'n' Sell publication - out of Vancouver, BC. [Note: If you want further insight with respect to advertising with B'n'S, send me a Private Message (PM).] With respect to advertising in the Lower Mainland (Vancouver, BC) I know of several Canadian folks who think nothing of a trip into the States to hunt-down and pick-up the "rig of their dreams". [For instance, later today I'll drive to central WA, to pick-up a (cutey) '92 Riv, which I closed a deal on last week, on my 1st visit.] You'll (eventually) have a savvy, motivated used car Buyer at your door. You'll recognize 'em. They'll be the individual who views your rig, sees it for what it is (a "peach"!) and negotiates with you for a fair price. Selling a car can be a frustrating time. I kinda' wrote-the-book... Here's wishing you all the best with the exercise. Regards, Craig
6. Hi Mark, Thanks for your positive commentary! When it comes to messing with the "internals" of the deck...well....that's sorta where.....er....my "wheels fall off".... (SO FAR)....I've been lucky to not have to re-enter the tape unit to explore for belts and tape-head do-ins. I'm sitting here crossing my fingers!... The pic attached to my previous post was taken at the Tonasket, WA home of my rig's previous owner. I live immediately north of the imaginary line, in (what I refer to) as: "Canada's Southern Californee". It's at a time when you go searchin' for an up-to-date pic of yer Reatta, for attachment, here, that you realize: HEY! I no-gots! The only properly composed pieces-of-work, in my possession....are those pics taken in the driveway of the previous owner!......18-months ago (darn-it-all!!). For the geographic splendour of it all, I've attached a pic of the rig, taken from the front (Yep - previous owner's driveway) looking south on Tonasket's West Bench, showing the north side foothills of the Cascades. If you like "rocks", you'd love the Pacific NW... [...and the rig appears to have been nicely preserved by her former owners, to boot.] In support of your cassette deck mission, I offer this: Good Luck!! [i wish I had more insight!] Craig
7. That's solid advice, Randy. My first "repair operation" with my '91 "Astro Roof" coupe, was "Cassette Deck Removal" surgery, for the purpose of removal of one (handsomely) stuck cassette tape. Despite attempting all means to avoid actual removal of said tape unit, there was, in the end, only one answer. Not being entirely clever enough to figure out how to release the tape-grab mechanism with the unit on the bench, I gingerly took chunks of the unit apart to spread the internals enough that the tape could be carefully coaxed. (The jammed cassette was a home-spun affair.....containing "opera"....."bad opera". It struck me that the "tape-jamming" operation was sorta "poetic". The deck has played the ol' tapes very nicely since both the tape and tape deck(!) was rescued. In taking care not to mess-up the light-weight chrome dash face trim panel, I employed the hooked-end of a Stanley "Wonderbar" pry tool. I wrapped the hooked-end with masking tape, in an attempt at mar-avoidance. Worked great. [since the delicate chrome dash face bezel has the approximate structural strength of cotton candy, I have a hunch that the Buick folks enjoyed selling replacements....often.] Imagine my delight, when with the stuck-tape was finally removed and I was able to listen to my factory stereo for the first time. My humble opinion suggests that this was one other area of the rig in which the "Craft Centre" tried hard!
8. Thanks to everyone who offered-up "headliner feedback". Once I get closer to the date of initiating my headliner replacement exercise, I'm hoping the generous offers of follow-up material-supply contact information, will still be available. [i'll admit that my rig's moon roof do-ins intimidate me more than a little, as far as headliner replacement is concerned.] For now, I'm going to (finally) get around to replacing the fabric on the four speaker covers. Degree of enjoyment with this exercise will go a long way to deciding the schedule for the headliner re-and-re.... Thanks again! Regards, Craig

10. Hi Randy, ...'nother member of the herd!.. Is your 6-month old comment: "PM me with your parts requests", still valid? Please advise. General Questions for All Reatta Folks 1) Does anyone have a line on where to buy speaker fabric to serve as a near-match to that installed in my '91 coupe? 2) Has anyone tackled Re-and-Re of a coupe's headliner? It seems that the skinny-gauge foam padding behind the headliner fabric has mostly gone to dust. I'd appreciate hearing any pearls of wisdom in relating to this (charming) repair. [P.S. My rig is festooned with the "Astro" roof.] Thanks in advance to anyone taking the time to reply. Regards, Craig
