    Seatbelt Bolts

What does him being a Mechanical Engineer have to do with knowing what the correct bolt for his Mustang is?? John John Boy, he did not ask "What is the Correct Bolt" and if you are slow to get it them maybe you should read this . . Practical Machinist Holds Forth on Practical Matters BTW, I watched TV in hopes of seeing you rescuing the stranded in New Orleans, what happened? JL
  2. The data plate on your '41 Buick is probably on the right side of the cowl under the hood?

    Seatbelt Bolts

This is a joke, right? Your profile says you are a mechanical engineer. I must apologize for chiding you (before all my girlfriends screech at me) but your most specific question concerning size could be best answered by introducing a bolt or tap of known thread and pitch into the existing anchors and verifying same. Who knows, maybe fine thread was used in an encapsulated nut on the first 1116 cars and coarse thereafter. From my days working in a body shop I don?t recall seeing grade markings on seat belt bolts of that era. I love the locomotive theory of more is better but these bolts ARE EXPOSED?? Weren?t they plain faced chrome? Length of shoulder is another issue. If your intended question is ?what is the correct bolt?? then I would defer to a parts car example, current supplier, assembly manual or parts book. Cheers

  6. These forums are about opinions and facts, however my experience has been that one will find more of the former than the latter. I understood that members are always welcome to post anything within the bounds of good taste. It is apparent though that if an opinion is expressed, the poster may well be the target of immature name calling and labels, for example, you repeatedly called my post an attack and the unfortunate example of the esteemed gentleman West Peterson projecting his insecurites on me, calling me a BOFF, a known vulgar slang term related to sexual intercourse. An editor is threatened by a little controversy? For shame. AB, I do not know you so how could I personally disparage you? I merely shared an opinon/observation based on the grim reality of the situation and recalling some of my personal firsthand life experiences. By the way I have attended the AACA Fall Meet at Hershey for almost forty years straight, with time out for Uncle Sam, so I have been around. The reality is that we have a small group of people here who bristle and caterwaul for tolerance and understanding but will not extend the same courtesy to others.
  7. To AB: I felt you trivialized this disaster with your photos. Vain was your word. Good choice! To Hissy Buds: Thanks for letting me control your emotions. Am I desperate? No. But sounds like some of you need a life. I've lurked a long time and marvel at your knowlege. #What we need is more motor and less mouth
  8. These deparate people, one million souls in distress, need immediate shelter, food, cash and supplies, not some one showing off their collector car. ~I see the flooded neighborhoods and think about how an Amphicar would be perfect rescue vehicle. Small enough to get into tight quarters where the military amphibious vehicles can't. If I were closer or better off financially, I would take my car and go see what we could do.~
  9. With 3191 posts to your credit one would assume that you could get to www.kruse.com without much effort. I really did not want to help Kruse in any way.
  10. Looked at the photos on the Kruse site, what a nightmare. Assuming you were brave enough to buy something how on earth would you retrieve your prize? Looks like the cars were fed into a giant blender and now have fun trying to sort out what parts go with which car. How many trips would you have to make to get your car, how long would you stand inline on the day after the sale and then find you didn't have the tools to chain the car together so you could drag it on your trailer. Does 15% buyers premium mean a 15% discount ?
