  1. Hi

About to remove the brake drums, they haven't been touched in over 35-40 years. Are there any tips / techniques to do this? Also what's the purpose of the slim slot on the outside of the drum?

How do I make the photo larger?

    Many thanks for any info.

  2. Many thanks for all the feedback,. I've had a look and unfortunately the Columbia appears to have been removed. I discovered the 2 vacuum pipes have cut just below the door post...there's no attachments to the existing axle.

    Regards

  3. Hi,

Hope someone can point me in right direction. I have a '39 LZ Sedan (right hand drive), Body Number 270, Motor Number 76495. According to the build sheet it has an Assembly Date of Feb 28, 1939... on the spec sheet it shows a Columbia 2 speed axle...how do I identify this actual unit is fitted and how do I operate the 2 speed..is there a lever / switch on the dash I operate to activate the 2 speed...is it hydraulicaly or cable operated? Finally, under "Special Equip" is lists "PIGI_USA"...does anyone know what this means?

    Many thanks for any help.

  4. Hey Keith!! Thanks for you response, I was thinking maybe no one really understood my point... I want to help you reach them!! My dad is

80, and he can read forums but never would post..( sports sports sports) But, this is so helpful and fun to have others chime in on whatever

Zephyr issue is kicking my tail..with immediate help from Peech and the rest!

My point is, that maybe if we can alert the club, via the magazine about this forum..we can help fix and inspire many folks..No disrespect intended, but I think the club population is not the internet crowd, but maybe with a little coaxing ..Maybe Murph, who is one of our most senior highly respected club members could contact Dave C. or Jim B. who obviously has a connection and is so poetic with his prose...

How about an online version of the mag, with a paypal dues option..geeeeeeez..

I have been a member on and off since 2001, the 'off' part is when I have to renew my subscription but get frustrated having to print out the form, fill it in and mail it with a cheque. In this internet / electronic age it's not really acceptable especially if we want to recruit new (younger?) members. I don't remember the last time I paid a bill by cheque. Rather than printing out the form etc etc I ended up telephoning and paid by credit card. It's a wonderful club with a great magazine, let's hope it can carry on.

  5. Hi Pete

Thanks for the reply, it's a '39 Zephyr V12 Sedan. I'm in the process of ordering a couple of belts but thank you for the kind offer. As I mentioned to Mike I don't know a great deal about the car, Colin has known of the car since the early 70's so hopefully I'll get to meet up with him at Knebworth on Sunday and learn some more. Hope to see you there.

    Kind Regards

    John

  6. Hi Mike

Not Pete, it's John. My father bought the '39 in the late 70's early 80's..never used it, he passed away in '92 when I inherited it.It hasn't been touched in over 20 years so needs a lot of work. Colin has been extremely helpful..he knew of the car whilst it was still in London in the 70's. Car presently in the Black Isle, but will eventually end up in the Bournemouth area. I presently live in Stansted but moving to the south coast in next 6-8 weeks.

Thanks for belt info, might see you at the show on the 17th.

    John
