  1. The most important thing for you to do is decide what class to put the car in. It may be classified as an "ORIGINAL" car and not be judged along side a "RESTORED" car. The rules for classifying all cars are in the JWO magazine. See where you fit in and have your car judged properly. Keep in mind, the judging aspect of the show is intended to provide constructive comments, not critisism. You should come away from the show with ideas on how to get a higher score the next time it is judged.

Good luck and have a great time, Dave, what car you are taking to the show ????

  2. Here is a place you can get some really good info.

    http://www.transmissionadapters.com/early_olds.htm

Let us know what you decide to do .

I have a car with the ( slim jim ) I thot about converting to a stick.

I found out I had to move the power brake assembly to under the

drivers feet to make room for the clutch lever assembly.

Look at the whole picture before deciding. You might have to build

new transmission mounts ETC. to accomodate a different unit. And

then, there is the actual shift mechanism to consider.

    Thanx, Dave

  3. I don't know how picky you are but,you can repair the old pan in place.

Clean it of all chunks and flakes.

Roughen it with a coarse sand paper.

Paint it with MAR-HYDE rust converter.

Apply a thick coat of fiber glass mix,(use some fabric for large holes).

Sand it to suit and paint it.

You now have a solid pan that looks as good as new without all the hassle.

I've done this to a couple of cars and if I didn't tell you ,you could not tell its been repaired.

Good luck with your project, Dave

  4. If you intend to show the car or have it judged at Nat's, you must be a member of OCA. If you are a member, you will get the OCA magazine "Journey with OLDS". All the info you need to make your decisions is there. If you just want the info, find a friend that belongs to OCA and look at their mag..I can't remember if what you are looking for is on the OCA website, but give that a try.

Good luck with your project, Dave

  5. Many Car Clubs such as the Oldsmobile Club of America set their own standards as to "original and/or "unrestored". This gives everyone being judged in that class a fair chance. If you don't intend to show the car it's just important to you.

I suggest you contact the Chrysler Forum and see what standards there are for your car and let that be your guide.

Good luck with your project, Dave

  6. The best place I found on my 1961 (same frame) is where the rubber fuel lines meet the steel just in front of the right rear wheel. You will have to find some isolaters to mount the pump or it will be very noisy. I am using the windshield wiper motor isolaters from a 1964 Olds.

    Good luck, Dave

  7. Sorry I mislead you. The board was placed there to hold the sides apart for the picture. The board is not in the second picture. It is not part of the device. It is too small to fit a tire.
