hey barney, my antennea has power but is unplugged..when i plug it in..it just keep running but nothing happens. must be why the previous owner unplugged it. do you know any thing about this problem. also my tape deck door doesn't open...checked fuses. can a cd player be put in its place and if so, what type do you recomend...k

thank you barney, it was a broken wire. but now my console lights and the lights on the pods go out after driving a bit..then come on when i start the car again. the last incident cost me 200 bucks so i am hesitant to explore this problem. i think i am selling the car..don't know what it is worth..new battery,windsheild, complete gas tank and sender and fuel pump, brakes are new, new serpentine belt.has an automatic start, viper alarm. looks beautiful inside and out. but i don't think i have the guts for a car this old. i work 2 jobs and need a car..we'll see, maybe this will be it for a while..also has a new paint job..black 89 with red interior (great shape) oh and new tires (kumoho) anybody know what i should ask for it? oh and new horn and light switch. tape deck doesn't work..that is all except the intermitent bscklighting in the console and pods.

dave, i really don't know, i quess they did change it out and that is when he said it wasn't the switch. i have to turn in my rental tomorrow and i suppose i should just take it a buick dealer..yes? i believe the bulbs are good..when the lights went out, i was driving with them on and the doors went down and up and then no lights...still parking and fog. took the car home and next day the car wouldn't start..battery i quess. but then tried to start it with my remote start and it started right up. so when i took it in, he checked the fuses, inside relay box, under the hood relay box and then tested somethin on the inside one which led him to believe it was the switch. then he checked my battery and said i could use a new one..regotered 9 on the batterry tester. so he put in an "allstate" which he said was a good one. so when the part came in..used from reattaparts.com..mike said he took it our of a car that was working so we know (i think) that switch is good. so back to square one...should i have bought a neww switch from buick (300 bucks)..do you think that is the problem. all i know is i have to get this girl going or i'm going to "carmax"..thanks dave for any help you may have to offer. kat

yes, that is right.i have parking lights, fog lights and but both headlights do not light up..but doors open with the retract button on the console but no light. what ya think?

that link was very imformative but my lights don't go on at all, the motor seems fine when i use the retract button. but no power to light the bulbs. feels electrical and expensive to me. does any one know what a 1989 black reatta will no lights might sell for?

i bought a light switch but my mechanic says that is not the problem. headlight don't go on (both) and the doors don't open automatically, only when i hit retract. all other lights are working. this is a new car for me..had it 2 weeks and maybe i too am expecting too much from a 1989 car. it has 53k miles and seems very well taken care but!!! ANYBODY HAVE THIS PROBLEM? IF SO, PLEASE HELP. KAT

i am new to the forum and hope someone can help! just bought my car 2 weeks ago. while driving home at night ..my headlight doors went up and down..then back to normal. last week my headlights went out (both) but still have parking, and all others. when i turn on the lights the doors won't open unless i hit retract. i took it to my mechanic who said i needed a light switch..bought that..then calls to say that is not it. ( or he is unable to fiqure it out). so now i have a light switcht but no lights. does anyone has an idea that i could pass along to him. any thing else i could check, or do i have to take it to a buick dealer. thanking you in advance...kat
