  1. I have a 1962 Cadillac Eureak Hearse with 390 engine and Jet Away trans. I want to convert to TH350 or better yet TH400 trans. My car is a large Hearse so I guess the heavy duty TH400 is best? Is the bell housing bolt pattern different on the Jetaway compareed to the TH350 and 400? If so do I need a trans conversion plate or to have my trans case modified? Any info please.

  3. Jim where did you get you brake shoes and what brand? My brakes on my 6,500 lb Cadillac hearse would lock up when I first put on the new shoes then after a week or so they would be glazed and not stop again. DOnt let anyone tell you otherwise, CADILLACS CAN LOCK UP BRAKES I KNOW I HAVE A 59 AND 62. Now I must say Ive never tried at 50MPH. THanks
  4. The brakes wont lock up or slow the car down well at high or low speeds until I changed the brake shoes again with different brand. And as I said in this post the brakes then only worked well for about a week. I think they are metalized brass particle type. Really get brake fade quick. Brke system total overhauled and flushed too. Engine was rebuilt recently and vacume presure at booster good. Ill bet they are glazed and if I sand them down a bit they will work agasin (temporarily) I need good linings! Help THanks
  5. I have the same problem. Must really push hard on the pedal to stop the car. NOT THE BOOSTER as we ahve tested it and driven without it connefcted to vacume and then you can feel the hard pedal anhd not stop at all. I dont have hard pedal but hard brake shoes. On my car (1962 Cadillac Eureka Hearse) I had drums turned, changed wheel cylinders then master and power booster 3 times! THe last time I had White Post Restorations rebuild master and power booster which is the 4th change in two years. No improvement in braking. I had changed the shoes before one time and decided to chage them again even though they were not worn. When I changed the shoes using a different brand I suddenly had very responsive brakes! You could lock them up! First time in two years since I got the car. Stopped great for about a week or so then they gradually got worse and now just as bad as before. Im looking for softer vbrake shoes as I am convinced the hard material the the makers sell with the lifetiime warranty is not as good as old style softer type that wear out faster but stop better. Anyone with lead on better brake shoes please! THanks
