  1. I'm just wondering out loud, but I wonder if Vintage Air could offer anything usable to you? I think their kits have a blower box and ductwork, plus outlet vents. I wonder if any of the ductwork they have could work or be adapted to your application?
  2. Did you check out that unusual horseshoe-shaped air cleaner? For 1967 Oldsmobile offered as an option the pre-heated air duct ('Climate Controlled Combustion' they called it), something that would become common to most cars for 1968. Once again Olds was an innovator.
  3. The Oldsmobile 98 series in the mid to late sixties offered a Town Sedan (had a B-pillar between the door glass), the Holiday Sedan and Holiday Coupe ('Holiday' = Hardtop), the convertible; plus the Luxury Sedan. The Luxury Sedan, or LS, was an extra-luxurious version of the Town Sedan. Incidently, the Town Sedan was the only 98 model that didn't use the combined power seat and window controls on the driver's armrest (power seat and power windows were optional on that model); nor did it have the rear fold-down armrest. The LS added that stuff plus a rear vanity on the front seatback with a tissue dispenser for the rear seat passengers. A vinyl roof cover was also standard to set it apart.
  4. A neighbor is restoring a '65 Jetstar 1, the 1st and only '65 that I have ever seen here in Canada. If I get his permission, maybe I could post some pics of his progress. Is anyone interested in me scanning & posting a pic of the 4-speed console as pictured in my '66 Olds Owner's Manual? It has the tach mounted way down low. Anyway, thanks for the info.
  5. I'm not 100% certain of this, but I heard that Edelbrock is discontinuing their Q-jet. There was supposedly some licence issue, or something something to do with dwindling demand vs. retooling costs. I would say that a Q-jet is a pretty versatile carb, relatively simple, potentially economical but tricky to fine tune unless you get an expert who really understands them. Forgive my ignorance, but does the 394 carb mounting fit a spread bore carb? If so, then I would hazard a guess the the Q-jet is a good choice. It is worth the effort to find an expert to dial everything in on it, as fuel economy and performance depend on things happening under the right throttle settings (if that makes sence). There's my 2 cents worth.
  6. First time post here. I was recently discussing with a member of my local car club about sightings of Jetstar I's & Starfires. He mentioned to me that he had seen one at the Barrie Automotive Flea Market in Barrie, Ontario, Canada within the last year I believe. I still have the Owner's Manual & Warranty Booklet from my brother's long-gone 1966 Olds Delta 88 Holiday Sedan (he got rid of the car in 1978). In the manual they mentioned that the 4-speed was available in many of the full-sized models except the 98s. I have never actually seen a factory 4-speed in one though. Were the 4-speeds the close-ratio M21 behind the 425 engines? Did you have a choice of M20 wide ratio or M21 close ratio? As I understand they had special long tailhousings that were also found on full-sized U.S. Pontiacs of that era.
