  1. 1915 Series "E" period sales literature mentions "Vermillion, Mercedes Red and Monitor Grey" as colors. The Collings Foundation has a Gray Bearcat...do a "Google" search and you might find a photo of it.
  2. On early (pre-1920) Stutz radiator badges what does it say around the word STUTZ? The Car That Made --- Good in a Day or Indianapolis --- Indiana, U.S.A. I've seen both. Were two designs used or is one later than the other? Or is one a repro? The question was prompted when I saw a "Good in a Day" emblem on ebay that the seller said was off an 14 Bearcat...
  3. According to the sales brochures, the factory colors were two shades of red (vermillion and "Mercedes", gray and blue. I'm guessing you could get yellow and other colors as a special order. While you're at the libray take a look at Car & Driver of October 1979. Some nice color shots of the late Tony Koveleski of Stutz Club. Most radiators were painted body color, though I've seen some in paintings where they were brass. The steering column and headlight trim were nickel but the head light buckets were usually black. The side lights...which don't come in the MPC kit...are black with nickel trim. Try to take a look at the cover of Ralph Stein's "The American Automobile" or "Automobile Quarterly's World of Cars" both havelarge photos of the ex-Bill Harrah red & black Bearcat in the National Auto Museum in Reno.
  4. Try to find a copy of Automobile Quarterly Vol. 20 number 3....from 1982. There are some good color shots of a 14 Bearcat 4E. My only question is that it has white flooring & running boards...and I don't know if that is original. All the other cars I've seen have had black.
  5. I own the Bearcat replica built for and used in the series, so I've collected a lot of information on the series, including all 13 episodes. They're on VHS (USA format) but I do plan to transfer them to DVD...hopefully soon (I've just moved and I haven't found them yet amid all the boxes). Contact me offline and I'll see what I can do. In the meantime, for information on the series, and car, go to: http://home.earthlink.net/~tomasik/rod/bearcats.html John Boyle, Washington state, USA
