  1. While working on my 55 olds 88 speedometer, I somehow managed to damage the electric gear selector indicator. It works on R and D only. The electrical connections are correct. Any Ideas or is there someone who fixes them. Thanks Randy
  2. Update: Heating problem fixed! After a new water pump, 3 cooling system flushes, putting on smaller pulley on water pump (to speed up fan and pump). Compression checks for head gasket problems and I don't know what else, Took the radiator back to the guy who rodded it to start with and had it flow checked. Radiator was operating at 10% flow. Moral of the story, never assume anything. Hope this helps someone down the road. Thanks Randy
  3. Thanks for your help! I did have the radiator rodded out and the car has all new hoses. Going to check the bottom hose. Thanks again
  4. Took a cruise in my 1955 olds 88 in preparation for a 1000 mi cruise in a couple of weeks. Everything whet like clock work for 120 miles and then all of the sudden the heat guage started to rise. Let it cool down added a little antifreeze (pint) and made it the ten miles home. Removed the thermostat and let it cool down checked the water and made it a couple of miles and it started to heat again. There is no water in the oil and the radiator has been reconditioned. My next step is to flush the sytem. Any other ideas. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thans
  5. Having trouble with the fuel pump on my 55 olds 88 with 2bb carb. Has anyone replaced the fuel vacuum combination with just a fuel pump. If so what number was it. Thanks for any help Randy

  8. Thats for you info. Purchased a motor from a 57 yesterday on Ebay, will know shortly if it works. I looked at a 54 2 door hardtop the other day, don't know if any of the parts will work. Haven't tried to purchase the car but can. Hope you enjoy your car as much as I do mine. My wife and I go crusing almost everynight in the summer, really relaxes us. Let me know if you need anything else. Randy
  9. I want to switch from a vacuum wiper motor to electric on my 55 oldsmobile 88. I've been told that some chevy motors will bolt right on and use the same switch. Has anyone heard of this. Thanks for now Randy
  10. I'll give that a try. Thanks a lot for your help. Randy
  11. I have a 55 olds 88 holiday. Removed the heater core and after reinstalling the cover, smoke came out from inside the cover. Didn't hurt anything. Don't understand the wiring inside the cover. There is a red black and white wires hooked to a coil of some sort. A brown wire that goes through a couple of switches(when front door is closed and one when the defrost door is open). Any help would be greatly apprecaited. The manual I purchased doesn't help ! Randy
