I believe the attaching point is somewhere on the distributor tower. Is your car standard shift or hydramatic?

Was red an original color on these? I see overspray in the engine bay, indicating a repaint. Looks like the original buyer didn’t spring for a clock as I see a clock delete panel in the dash.

Karla Maxwell in CA. She’s not cheap, but the work is excellent. https://maxwellenamels.com/

Accessory light for a bus or truck. They are not for Stutz or Franklin.

New timing covers are available at about $3000 each. New aluminum heads were available at $5000 a pair. I don’t know if the heads are still available.

The dual cowl phaeton in the top picture is not a Model M eight cylinder Stutz, it’s a six cylinder Blackhawk. Look at the shape of the front fenders & short hood. The original poster was correct.

There is no door handle holes on the project car.
…….and no top mechanism. Or holes in the rear of the body for the top saddles. I smell a repro body.- 2

Another one painted that shade I call "Packard Putty."
Packard called that color “Egyptian Sand”. -
The only big difference mechanically was they went to hydraulic valve lifters in 1937.
And the one that sold for 472K at auction that they mention in the ad was a special one of 2 built LWB conv Victoria that was in show condition. They’re comparing apples to oranges.

“Car last run in 2015”. “Has rebuilt engine”. “We have onsite mechanical services with 50 years experience “.
Think about these 3 quotes from the ad. They want top money for the car, and it has a rebuilt engine. And they have onsite mechanical services with 50 years experience. Yet the car was last run 8 years ago in 2015. That makes no sense whatsoever. Why not get it running again since you have the skills in order to help achieve a higher price?
The wheels should be painted black , it’s got the wrong gear shift knob, and the horn button should be grey like the steering wheel.

Not a bad car. Too bad someone put those stupid stainless strips on the front fenders in an attempt to modernize it. It’s not a deluxe model, just a standard. No radio, standard heater, plastic inserts in the interior window handles. If it’s a lifelong southern car the body should be beautiful. The spare tire well looks perfect.

Looks like a ‘48 from the dash. 61 or 62 series?
-
I’d want to see a close up picture of the steering column or front floor to confirm it was standard shift. 99% of ‘47 Cadillacs were hydramatics. The interior was probably 1/2 leather and 1/2 cloth originally and looks to have been redone in the 1970s. The biggest concern on these are the hydroelectric top and windows. It’s probably worth around 25K.

You’re right. They conveniently didn’t post any photos of the drivers side of the car to show that. The wood on the A pillar must be rotted to where the screws holding the door hinges on won’t hold.

The wood above the windshield is rotted out & the windshield frame won’t stay in place. I bet the entire top wood structure is bad. Car is in NJ. I bet this car was active with the local CCCA region back in the 60’s & 70’s and then got put away for a long time in poor storage. Maybe Walt remembers it. The colors on it would make it almost unforgettable. Could be a possible body transplant candidate onto a 640 chassis for someone.

If possible, we would be interested to see the evidence of the many custom modifications to the standard Series 62 convertible body shell to create the Eldorado.
The cowl around the windshield, the tops of the doors, and the top of the body below the rear quarter window are all filled with lead. The curvature of the hood where it meets the windshield is also different.

Those 53 Halo cars are all the nads. If the 54 dual quads were on the 53 it would be the pinnacle but they aren't chopped liver as is.
The dual quads were a pain for the dealers to keep running right when they were new. My father used to hang out at the local Cadillac dealer in the early/mid 1950s. He remembers wealthy doctors & lawyers buying new Eldorados for their wives. Then after they had them awhile, they’d bring them back to the dealer because they were running like crap, and the dealer would put a single carb set up on and then they ran great. -

There were three ‘34 - ‘37 Cadillac V 16 3 window coupes in attendance? That must be the most in one place since they were new.

I believe Restoration Supply Co has several types of this.
1941 CADILLAC ACCELERATOR RETURN SPRING LOCATION ?

Here’s the answer. I had forgotten about this. There’s a tab that is held on by the rear exhaust manifold cross over pipe bolt. It has a hole drilled in it for the spring.
