  1. For me, I left the hood up and watched the engine as I started it up and revved the engine. The engined rocked back and forth, tugging on the hoses. I could actually feel the rocking of the engine as it shifted gears.

For some sounds I've heard, my mechanic let me look around when the car was on the lift. The most telling sound that I fixed myself was muffler rattle. The rubber bands that linked the muffler to the body were old. I replaced them and that problem was solved. They actually seemed ok before I changed them, but there was an obvious difference in the feel when I pulled them and compared them side by side.

    Hope this helps.

  2. I'm looking mostly for safety.when it's wet. How would the +4's compare to Hydroedge? Is OEM the only reason to go +4? I keep hearing of people switching from the +4's.

Regarding drift, isn't it supposed to be better to decrease drift as much as possible? How would did the Dunlops do in the rain/snow?

Thanks for all the advice ...

  3. My current break fluid is the color and consistency of black soup. Is it supposed to be this color?

I had to top off my break fluid not to long ago. The fluid was clear. Is it natural for the fluid to quickly turn dark? I just want to make sure I'm doing my best to get my reatta into top shape and as clean as possible, inside and out.

    Thanks.

  4. On the long list of repairs that my '90 Maui Blue Reatta has needed to go through, all four motor/trans mounts needed to be replaced. (They were all snapped by the previous owner, as well as the K-frame.) Repairs to the K-frame and three mounts have been completed, prices for those varied around $30-70 each mount, frame was $300, plus $450 labor. Total was $853.00.

On the last mount, my mechanic said it was no longer made, but he could get one from GM for about $300.00. He said he was going to keep looking other places for the part, that the price seemed to high to him.

Does this sound right? Has anyone had a similar situation or know what mount this is? I checked the GM site and could find no help. I've alot of trust in my mechanic, he's done wonders for a car that I bought as a lemon.

Since there seem to be plenty of parts running around on E-Bay, I thought I'd query some of the sellers. Does anyone know if the mount I'm talking about is the same that is used on the other Reatta years? I'm always happy to save money wherever I can.

    Thanks.

  5. Checking out the Nokia site, I noticed that these are labeled as summer tires. How do these perform in the winter?

The Nokia's look remarkably similar to Michellin's newest tire on the market, but with a higher speed rating. I'll be switching out my tires soon, so I'm really interested. Also, how much did the Nokia's cost? I don't mind paying a little more for quality, but I do have a budget to consider.

    Thanks.

  6. Just a little FYI for Reatta owners in general: I put this resistor on my car and the end result was $1000 payment to the mechanic. That included the replacement of my air flow meter and a string of other repairs. It started with coughing. The oil pressure surged, then bottomed out. Gears ground. Mini explosion under the hood. Car started up a bit after that, but the oil was constantly bouncing. I could tell the motor wanted to keep cutting out.

Perhaps I just had some old parts going bad. I purchased the car from people who didn't care for it very well. Never the less, just be careful with any quick fixes for more power.

The car does run very well now, thanks to all the work, but it was pretty taumatic experience for my little blue car.
