  1. From anything I've seen with the convertibles, I wouldn't sell for $11K. Hold out for more. Most that I've seen advertised with comparable mileage seem to be listed at at least $15K. Don't know what they end up getting, but I think $11K for a convertible is a steal.
  2. In my '90, this started happening to me, just before I got the usual IPC error with "00" on the speedometer and "Error" on the odometer.
  3. I was just wondering if there are any figures for how much of the Reatta fleet is still on the road. You sometimes see figures from a manufacturer claiming that they have the highest percentage of 10- or 15-year-old cars still on the road based on vehicle registration records. Are there any registration figures out there that would show how many of the 21,751 (correct me if I'm wrong) Reattas are still on the road? Just curious.
  4. I'm trying to sell my 1990 Reatta coupe. It's white with red leather interior. The car is in good condition and everything works. The body doesn't have any damage, and the interior shows only a little wear (no tears) on the driver's seat. It currently has just under 144K miles on it. The car had the common "00 Error" messages coming up periodically on the instrument cluster, but I just had that cluster replaced on 7/29/03. The car also just passed the PA state inspection on 7/29/03 without any repairs necessary. It's currently advertised on autotrader.com at $2,999, but I'll consider any reasonable offer. If you do a search on autotrader.com for Reattas in the 15017 zipcode, you should see it there. There is a picture there as well, although the photo quality isn't great. If interested, I can be reached at ken_rosenzweig@msn.com or by calling 412-901-7967.
  5. I appreciate the help. I pulled on the bezel and worked my fingers behind it as far as I dare, for fear of breaking it. 13-year old plastic is probably starting to get brittle. Is there a way to get behind it and push it out? There is a long, narrow vent that go across the front (windshield side) of the dash that looks removable. If you pull that out, you might be able to push the bezel out. Any further help is greatly appreciated.
  6. I found and removed the four torx screws that hold the plastic bezel in place on the dash. But in trying to pry to bezel off in order to get at the digital dash module, I'm getting a lot of resistance, mostly behind the radio/climate control area. Is there anything else anchoring this in place? I afraid I'm going to snap the plastic if I pull any harder. Does GM ever make anything that's easy to work on?
  7. Thanks for the advice! Sounds pretty easy. I paid $275 for a reconditioned unit. It's from buickreattaparts.com - Mike read one of my posts here and asked if I wanted one.
  8. I just bought a reconditioned dash module for my '90 coupe. Can anyone give me any instructions on how to install it? Thanks.
  9. I've often seen this too, ever since I bought my car in 1998. Check the oil and it's fine. Also, if you stop the engine and restart, the warning goes away.
  10. Thanks Barney. I picked $3499 as a price, giving myself room to come down if someone asked. Who ever pays list for a car? The three different people whom I really thought would buy the car never proposed a lower price; they asked if the $3,499 was negotiable, and I always said yes, but they never actually made offers. The dash problem ("00" "Error" "Electrical Problem") has developed since the car was last looked at by an prospective owner. At that point, the car didn't have any issues. It still looks very good. I might just end up keeping it, although at this point I'd really consider taking whatever I can get for it - maybe $2000? Do you know where I can get a new or good used dash module?
  11. I pretty much have resigned myself to the fact that my Reatta won't bring much. I originally advertised it at $3499, but long ago figured that I'd have to take less. I think the Kelley price is $2800-$2900, and at this point I'd probably be willing to accept less than that. Or I may just end up driving the car until it falls apart or keeping it in my garage for twenty years. In either case, I'll be getting the dash repaired soon. They didn't sell well in '88-'91, and I guess they still don't.
  12. Does anyone have any advice on getting my Reatta sold? I've had it on AutoTrader.com since March and had advertised it for a while in the local paper (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette). I've gotten limited responses to both of these sources, though I thought on three different occassions that I had the car sold (buyers backed out each time). I also posted the car on this board on 6/24/03 hoping for a buyer. I'm now thinking of taking the car to auction and trying to sell it there. Has anyone ever tried this? I really thought that a car as good-looking and rare as a Reatta would sell easily. I think there's a lot of people out there who just don't have a clue what a Reatta is. Every person who has inquired about the car is a current or former owner. Maybe at an auction when the non-Reatta people see the car, they'll be impressed with the look and I'll have some luck. Any thoughts? Any interest in the car? -------------6/24/03----------------- Unfortunately, I need to sell my Reatta. I've owned it for five, largely trouble-free years. I purchased the car in 1998 with 63K miles and now have over 143K miles on it. It's never had a major breakdown of any kind and, until I put it up for sale, I regularly took long weekend road trips in it. It is clean inside and out. ken_rosenzweig@msn.com It's been on AutoTrader.com since March. The price listed there of $3,499 is very negotiable. The only current issue that I have with the car is the electronic dashboard. About two months ago, it started blinking out occassionally and the "electrical problem" light comes on. It has happened several times and typically only stays out for ten minutes or less. Outside of this, I have no current issues with the car. I am located near Pittsburgh, PA. If you want to see the car on AutoTrader, search for Reattas in the 15017 area code. There is a picture, although the quality is somewhat poor. You can contact me at ken_rosenzweig@msn.com
  13. It's hot here too. As usual, dealer labor is ridiculous. It was around $450 for the complete job.
  14. Unfortunately, I paid a lot more than you since I had it done at a Buick dealer. But I had the a/c in my '90 coupe retro-fitted to a non-freon system. It was done just over one year ago, and the system works great. I'd heard that the new systems aren't as effective, but mine is working very well. Even in very hot weather, it doesn't work that hard to keep the car cool.
