I was lucky enough to find a Black '39 Commander in Elyria, OH, a few years ago which had been professionally restored in the mid 1970's but kept in a climate-controlled site until I purchased it and brought it to FL! Jon Wright's Custom Chrome, Grafton, OH had replated the chrome about 1975 and still it looked NEW! Landers Restorations, Elyria, OH had made the car look as good as NEW! Mr. Landers told me he had only removed the 60K mile engine and painted it but NEVER rebuilt it! The car would get 20-22 mpg at 60 mph all day long while cruising with local streetrodders getting 15 mph on SBC engines. I took it to the Studebaker International Meet in Charlotte but never had it judged. Sam Clay, Spring Hill, FL
