  1. Hi all! My wagon does not have a hitch and I need to put one on. Any ideas of where to obtain it? JC Whitney lists one for a 1977 (it's as far as they go back). I know that '77 had the Custom Cruiser on the B platform rather than the C, so I'm wondering if the frame is similar enough. Any help on this topic would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Mike
  2. Ok, so the Cutlass just has the 2 tubes exposed to the air... Anybody know about the Toronado? I ask because the Toro has the tubes that go up right behind the filler tube, which do not have any type of filter, AND spit gas out through those tubes. Should the Toro have a filter assembly? Thanks for your help! Mike V
  3. My 1968 Cutlass Supreme has a problem with the gas tank vents... One of the vents is plugged with a bolt and the other is wide open. It seems that because of this, gas is leaking out of the filler tube despite the cap. Anybody had to solve this type of problem? From what I can tell, there should be a vent assembly that allows fumes to escape but not gas. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Mike V
  4. I had the same problem with my 68. I am not sure if it is the same for 66, but there is a tiny hole (a paperclip fit nicely) in the keyhole assembly. I stuck a paperclip in the hole and it unscrewed the last bit without a problem. I will check the one I took out and if you need it will take a pic and post it.
  5. I do not believe I have seen such a number in that particular place. What is the number? If it is a VIN derivative, the last 5(?) digits will match the last 5 digits of the VIN (sequence number).
  6. Those "xtra blinkers" are actually an option called cornering lights. They would light up brightly in the direction you are turning so you can see. They are activated by the turn signal switch.
  7. Sorry, the second link got a period stuck at the end of it... The link is http://www.justmike.us/TEMP/ToroEngine.JPG Mike
  8. 1. Not sure about the tail lights (I have a 68),perhaps somebody from the Toro List can help. If you are not subscribed, I believe you can by sending an email to thelist@toronado.net with the word subscribe in the subject. (I'll also check the parts illustrated guide and see if it has any diagrams. 2. Take a look at the following links to give you an idea of where the VIN label is on the engine. This picture shows the bare block with a drawn box around the pad. The numbers are not on the heads. The numbers *CFO are on the heads. I'm not sure what they mean, but they are not VIN derivatives. http://www.justmike.us/TEMP/455Block.JPG This picture shows the engine assembled with an arrow pointing to where the pad is. It is behind the bottom alternator bracket. http://www.justmike.us/TEMP/ToroEngine.JPG. Hope that helps a bit. I had to take a VERY soft wire brush on my Dremel to clean off the grime from the pad enough to read it. 3. There are nearly NO Toronado repro parts out there. One possiblity is Fusick, but they seem to concentrate on 66-67 Toros. It's worth a look though (www.fusick.com). I know of no others at this time. Hopefully some other folks can help you as well. Mike
  9. Hi all! A couple of questions... (for a 75 455 Olds) 1)How do you get the power steering pulley off (press fit style). I figured a gear puller should be able to get it off, but it seems competely frozen. 2)Did Olds use a keyway style pulley in 1975 on the full size models or any for that matter? Can a keyway pulley be used on a 75 Custom Cruiser? 3)Anybody know where to get a replacement 2 groove pulley? Any comments or info is greatly appreciated as I am desperate here. Mike
  10. I am actively looking for any 75 olds wagons that might be sitting in boneyards, especially the custom cruiser. I believe that a lot of parts may be compatible on either side of 75 (74 and 76 or so). The main parts I am seeking are the 3rd row parts and pieces. Thanks, Mike
  11. Alright... for anybody who is interested - the 75 Custom Cruiser with the 455 with front disc brakes has the 12x2.5 rear drums. Mike
  12. Can anybody tell me what size the rear drums are? Are they 12x2 or 12x2.5 75 Custom Cruiser - 455, front disc / rear drums Thanks! Mike
  13. Wow, I can't believe somebody actually responded finally... nice! So, the indicator on the HEI engines would just have more degrees on it to obtain the approx 20 degrees advance. So further, an advance timing light would make using the 69 indicator on the 75 HEI engine fine since according to my tests, the 0 is exactly where it needs to be? Anyone care to confirm/deny/comment? Thanks! Mike
  14. According to the Chassis Service Manual I have, the 75's all came standard with a 2.73 gear ratio. As far as upgrades, I am not sure.
  15. Yes, they are both 1.6 ratio... The performance gain is advertised at around 25HP. The gain comes from a couple of places... #1 is the huge reduction of friction on the valve stems due to the roller tips.
