The Basics: It?s a ?71 Skylark 2 door sedan (post) built at the Freemont California plant. Originally Burnished Cinnamon top and bottom, now has the top painted a cream color. It has almost every option I think you could check off in 1971. The car is one owner prior to me, owned it 1971-2004. Options: ?Power Disc Brakes ?Posi (unknown gear ratio, but accels quickly. Maybe 3.23s) ?Rear Defrost (motor blows on high, does not seem to on low) ?Cruise (works great!) ?Tilt (in good working order) ?Power Windows (all work) ?Power Locks (driver?s door works great, passenger does not) ?AM/FM Radio (does not work, the light works though) ?6 way Power Bench (out of a cadillac I believe, works in all directions) ?A/C (works, blows cool) ?Remote Mirror (the mirror head is a little loose) The Pros: A great car, but needs some work. It?s not often that you find them optioned like this and still drivable. The motor runs good, but smokes a little on startup. It pulls hard though, leading me to believe it is a 3 series posi. The motor is a 350 2bbl that has had regular maintenance since new at a local gas station in town. Mileage is believed to be 210k. It is all there, the rear window area is much better than most, and the rockers look great (one has a dent, or ?flat spot? in it that would need to be straightened). The 1/4 panels have no bubbling at the bottom, they aside from dents they are in great shape. The TH350 shifts great. It would make an excellent resto project or a fully optioned GS clone (albeit a post car). The car is very straight, and would need patch panels at the most to get make it rust-free. It could also use a trunk pan. The rear bumper is in awesome shape, with one small blemish on the passenger side. One lens has a crack in it, and if I have enough time I will repair it with a donor lens that will go with the car. All marker lights work, headlights work (3 are original T3s), taillights work (one brake light doesn?t come on, but there are 2 per side), and the interior lights work (driver?s side under-dash light needs a new bulb). The Cons: It could use a restoration, but could easily be a driver with a few safety items. The front end should be rebuilt, and it needs tires. The ones it has hold air and drive (I?ve driven it) but the tread is very low and I wouldn?t want to get caught in the rain in it. The front seat is out of a different car, and although it works, it does not match; could easily be switched out for some bucket seats, or another power bench. There are 8 mounting points on the roof for a wheel chair lift, I?m not sure how hard it would be to take them off and repair them. They look to be riveted to the roof. There is a ¼? skid plate on the front of the car, the owner taught linguistics in Brazil and the roads (or lack thereof) were such down there that he wanted the extra protection. The interior, as in most of these old cars, could use some attention: door panels, front seat, carpet, and a few other things depending on how far you want to go. It also needs a gas pedal and driver?s armrest due to the handicap linkage that was on there. The brake pedal pad is in awesome shape, it had never been used until I put my foot on it. The front bumper has been pushed up into the grill, so the grill will need to be repaired and the bumper could use a re-chrome. The skid plate is bolted to the bumper in 3 places, but is out of sight. Those can be welded and rechromed. There is a blemish (large) on the driver?s side front fender. It looks like there was some body work there in the past, and some bondo has come off leaving it to surface rust. I cannot see what was repaired, as it looks straight to me. Unfortunately, both front fenders have small dents where the bumper looks like it was pushed back into the groove. It should also be noted that the paint is there, but is scratched and faded. It could use a repaint. A few more things: This is the base Skylark, not the Skylark350 or Custom. It does not have rear armrests, and does not have drip rail moldings. It does have poverty caps on it, and they are in decent shape (one needs to be replaced, hard road rash) and the rest could use straightening. I?m asking 2500 OBO. This car is a rare piece of history. Even though a skylark, it deserves some attention. With a front end rebuild, a little bit of bodywork, and a little attention to detail here and there this car could make someone a very cool driver or an interesting conversation piece at the local car show. I can almost guarantee you will never find another 1 owner car like this one with all of these options in drivable shape. I can take any pictures that are needed, given a little time. I can also help arrange shipping. The car is located in Austin, TX. I have many pictures I can email, you can reach me by replying here or emailing me at BuickGS455 AT austin.rr.com Thanks, Chris
