When did they make the wire hub caps with the R in the middle versus the Buick emblem and are they interchangeable on first gen rivieras?
Paul: 64-66 have an R. Interchange? The 63 has 3 1/4" end screws on the spinner and the silver Tri-Shield. The chrome center piece has 6 screws. 64 and newer have 4 spinner and 8 centerpiece and they do NOT interchange. I've put 100 of these together and that's how I know. The silver Tri-Shield medallion can have a rubber backing piece although most don't. Mitch

Pretty yummie! All the places to look for seem to be in fine order. The only complaint I have is that I'd love to see more pictures. Mitch

I purchased that same tank from James. Not for a First-Gen Riviera but for a B-60. I needed to section the filler neck is all. James is solid! Mitch

Rod: You're guy's correct. Once it's torn down and thoroughly inspected you won't know anything. Best to have a few dynaflows with in arm's reach just in case you need some parts that might not be available in a kit. Mitch

Make a list and PM me. If you're local to the San Francisco Bay Area I can fill your list. I do NOT ship. Mitch
-
ED: NO! 57-60 seems to be the interchange. Having a spare or two is not a bad idea if the local trans shop needs parts. Mitch
-
Adam: You really did a nice shape-up in this car. Your presentation is also excellent. With no reserve you're gonna go right to the bank and someone's gonna get what they see!!! Thanks for raising the bar as way too many lower it! Mitch

Jim: Yes, the vin is the definitive and final piece of proof but.....as much recollection as possible about the car and it's color, options, anything . The guys here are dialed in better than anyone on the planet and if there's anything that resembles the car you're hunting for it conceivably could surface on this forum. Keep us updated with any clues that might come to mind or tangible something and if it's kicking around......WE'LL FIND IT !! Mitch

John: My pal did get it. He's a serious as a heart attack Buick collector and it had a happy ending. Mitch

Adam: 65 Riviera, 66 Electra, Wildcat and Le Sabre is the interchange. Most are dead. Mitch

So....I get how to dis-assemble and re-assemble and....how to clean' em. How do I make them really sparkle?? The stainless doesn't seem to respond that well to polishes like Wenol or Flitz. Mitch

I'm interested in learning a few tricks when cleaning, polishing and re-assembling the 15" Buick wire cap 63-69. Thanks, Mitch

I'm a First-Gen Riv guy. I was in 6th grade when they hit in the fall of 1962. 63-67 Corvette, 63-64-65 Riviera. Sexy as hell, performance and sexy as hell. Did I say that twice? Mitch

Charles Dart went from show to show recording videos and sold the VCR's to BCA members for many years. A good guy who provided an excellent and fun service for many. Mitch

Well. except for what we see we don't know the entire story about this particular car. Save it???: Sometimes we can and sometimes we can't. When I'm incapacitated there's gonna be a lotta B-60's headin' for da squish. Mitch

Chrome: Unless it's clean and nicely polished you can't tell how almost any chrome is. End of story. I'd pay $50 locally as described. Mitch

OK Kev: The pipes, I think go to the fuel bowl and holes may be vents. I've taken apart, cleaned and re-assembled many. That really isn't a legit re-build. I wish I knew what to check for as to correct old problems as these carbs when operating properly are excellent. GM put millions on their cars for a longtime. Mitch.

OK Motofun: IF......both engine/trans combos were good I'd be interested as I have a good 63 with a good Frankensteined 65 401/turbo 400 that can revive a good but dead 65 Riv. I can easily get silver going with the extra parts i have in stock too.
I am also looking for a good 65 Riv with no motor and trans. In Northern Califoirnia. Mitch

OK Will: I can use these, Mitch

OK Buick People: I saw this and was impressed. The quality looks great from the pictures. Do they lie? As always, a physical look, good stiff test drive and get 'er waaaay up in the air! Mitch
