Ed: I see your 63 is black with a white interior. I had a 63 with that color (in 1973) and it had Turbines. I think the 64 style on your unit with the black inserts all shined up like Bob does makes it REALLY pop !! I'm putting a set on my burgundy/white interior 64. Mitch

John: 225 70 15 is absolutely the right size. More meat on the ground and you don't have to go hoops of fire to play with the stance. Personally, I like the N'Priz and although the white stripe is a bit thin. It's cheap and available and a decent quality. Mitch

I have been collecting wire caps for a ridiculously long time. Swap meets, trading, trunks of old heaps, where ever. I clean 'em up and make beautiful matched sets. That said I never really had an opportunity to even find the Turbine caps. I have like 3 sets, 2 on cars. Bottom line? As much as loved the wire caps these things , when sparkling just make a 63 and 64 super-pop. I especially like the black painted 64 units. Mitch

Tom: The lower chrome molding is the identical piece that goes on a 60 Electra convert front door. Nice looking parts!! Mitch

Odds are there's caca in the tank. I'd start with the tank as a starting point. First use an auxiliary fuel tank and that eliminates everything behind the fuel pump. Mitch

The guy who got this video in the mix was a Texan I believe, Jim Romer....not sure. He had a 65 Riv all black including chrome. Mitch

I'm in the process of pulling a front clip of a 64 Riv. The car sat in Salinas , CA for 30 some odd years. Solid, lo mileage and unmolested. The trunk pan, interior floor pans and front and back windshield surrounds were badly rusted and even for me it was too far gone. . First I pulled the headlights and grille. WARNING..... this car was greenhoused and STILL a California car . 95% of the fasteners came off with not much violence.
Today I did the bumpers only cutting off 2 bolts. It took about 4 hours removing things. Tomorrow I'm gonna clean everything in sight, pressure wash and scrub. The fenders and inner fenders will come off in one shot, the inner fender? That body bolt usually snaps.
I've R-n-R'd front clips on First-Gen Rivs many times and due to the fasteners being ruisted it's a new challenge on every unit. The biggest issue I have, assuming one knows how to navigate pulling and installing parts is to put the front clip back where everything lines up perfectly. That really makes these cars pop.

Dan: I pal put factory A/C in his B-60. By the time he got it working he was in it mid teens in costs. If you can get a retro kit and a guy who knows what he's doing you will be in the project much cheaper, a faster finish and possibly much more efficient. If you MUST have a factory air conversion I'd find a B-60 local to you and swap. You can find beat B-60's for cheap with factory air somewhat locally especially in Texas where many factory A/C units were sold new. That would give you a road map and a much better shot compared to doing components from here and there.
I did it once in a 67 Corvette and that was tough job. Mitch

The mechanic seemed to fail to properly diagnose. When the key is on what was the draw on the starter? A good start. Does it crank at all but not fire?? And...test the battery. Electrolyte , check for a dead cell, put a 2 amp float charge on it for a few days and then do a load test. It burns off the surface charge and if the needle holds your battery is probably good.

James is excellent. I got lots parts from James. I got insulation from Rubber the Right Way. No problem with the product as I've never used it. My specific problem is that I have a rodent problem. They love hood insulation. Mitch

Mike: All but 2 run. One of those a 64 D-Q that needs a cosmetic resto and has been in a deep hibernation, The other 64 that I got recently laying in a field, lo mileage, unmolested but rusted bad. I sold a collector a package of 13 First-Gens several years ago and kept the best. Mitch

Bernie: The Claret Mist, GM burgundy is a really fabulous color. That color when done right is the ticket on a First-Gen Riviera. The prep, blocking and final rub out are critical . This car has wire caps but if I had an extra set of turbines I believe it would add tremendous sex appeal. Mitch

John: My adult history is pretty much wrapped up around that car. My parents and many of my relatives rode in it as did countless friends and old girl friends, many no longer with us. I had it through almost every part of my life, career, living in different places, raising the kids and retirement. I commuted in it, used it as a spare and even showed it. If it could talk....but I'm glad it's adventures have been relegated to just me and my wife and kids.
Flipper? I was a used car dealer for 30 years and have bought and sold thousands of cars. I had this before I went into business and it stuck with me long after I retired.
It's fate today? It runs and drives pretty good still but it is very cosmetically challenged. I'm fixing it up a little here and there and one day it's gonna be better than when I got it. Mitch
