1. I'll admit I was never a Earnhardt fan other than for him to drop out of the race. I feel that even those NASCAR fans that didn't like him, feel the loss and their hearts, thoughts, and condolences goes out to the Earnhardt family, Dale Earnhrdt Inc. employees, Richard Childress employees and the rest of the NASCAR family. As a NASCAR fan, and am invloved in racing for a living (although drag racing, which is still dangerous)I know the dangers of racing these drivers face each week. It's in their blood the compitition, the thrill of the speed. It's what they live for. In times like this, we need to show support for the families involved and to mourn the loss of a driver even if his isn't your favorite. He was still part of the racing family.

 2. No AA Mag. yet in Mebane, NC.
And what do you mean rushing?? Heck some of our postal employees don't even go into work 'til 2pm somedays to go out on their delivery route. mad.gif Also when you call the Post Office after 5:30pm becuase you nor any of the other houses in your area got mail, you get told all the route drivers have delivered their mail and have gone home so you apparently didn't have any. Then ten minutes later the mailman arrives with mail. mad.gif

[This message has been edited by novaman (edited 02-18-2001).]

 3. Drake Six (US) 1922
Drake Motor & Tire Mfg. Co., Knoxville, Tenn
The Drake Six only appeared in prototype and was projected in two touring models which
were to sell at $2,195 and $1,195 respectively.
That?s the only information I can come up with. Hope it helps.

 4. I personally don't know of a special tool for these cables. I've got them on one of my Chevy II Novas. What I have found to work nicely without tearing them up is a pair of flat nosed pliers. Anything with a pointed nose doesn't get a secure grip and ends up slipping. At least that my experience with them.

 6. Try taking a car from NY (without title because it is a 1949) and try to register it in NC. My Dad and I went through this several years ago, when he was moving here. The DMV would not accept the NY registration IN my father's name as proof of ownership. They insisted they needed a photo of the serial number plate. Sent them a photo and a rubbing becuase the photo was dark. Not good enough. Sent them the info again. Still not good enough. Now they wanted the serial number from the engine. (that not the serial number for the car). sent them that. Not good enough. Finally after a year of this my Dad finsihed getting moved here, he talked to the DMV again himself. (I had taken care of sending the info they wanted). Aranggments were made for a DMV offier to come look at the car. What was cute was the officer din't ask for directions and our city's fire department didn't know where my Dad's street was. Come to find out Dad bought the house from the DMV officer's ex-wife. Finally we got things straighten out. The whole problem was I did not send the DMV a 18 digit VIN number. They never said anything before as to this being the problem so I could inform them that a '49 Willys Overland doesn't have a VIN that long.
Finally got title.
