1. 1. Russ, the emblems on the wildcat were gone, the car still has many parts, the stainless looks to be good.
2. The 55 has been pretty well picked over, I think someone was waiting for it to go into the yard, because Its only been out for about 2 weeks or less, and its been picked over. All the stainless is either gone or smashed. It does have a few things left on the interior/dash. Motor, Trans, hood are really all thats left, ands it was a complete car.
2. Still have them for sale, One motor is down to the short block, the other I just pulled 3wks ago and was running fine (no smoke) has rebuilt heads. One trans has no high gear. the other I know nothing about. Email me for a more extensive desription. Make an offer.
3. I'll assume your talking about the wildcat, It is a 2dr hardtop, with benchseats, I'll see if there are any good emblems left, the one I saw was on the crunched fender and had seen better days.
4. For all you who live in the San Francisco Bay Area, at the Pick n Pull on Mowry in Newark there is a wrecked 70 wildcat and 55 special 2 door, the 55 has been picked over, but the wildcat is still fairly complete (no motor trans) very clean interior.
5. Still trying to get rid of em. ONe motor rsn when pulled, the other is down to the short block. One trand has no high gear the other I don't know about. REally need to get rid of them, trying to clean out the garage and they take up ALOT of space. Make offer. I'm located near San Francisco (Fremont)
6. The heads on the running motor were rebuilt in 99, but the car hasn't done much but sit in my driveway, with an occasional startup, the rocker shafts are a little worn, but I have 2 new ones. The heads off the non running engine are pretty rusty, don't know much else about 'em, except that the motor they came off of supposedly sat out side for a number of years. The original heads off the running engine will make good paper weights, thats about it. Looikng to get rid of everything in one shot. Make offer. Email me for more details.
7. Don't the 56's use longer pushrods? I can't remember why, but I'm pretty sure of it.
8. Have two 322's and 2 Dynaflows for sale, one is a short block with the rest of it in pieces, the other is currently in my car, but will be out soon. E mail me for more details. Make Offer, I'm in the San Frnacisco Bay Area.
10. WOuld you be willing to sell the motor/tranny? How much?
11. Vintagespeed.com I know carries a variety of new and used parts for nailheads. Also try RPMCat.com, you can sometimes find nailhead stuff there also.
12. Sanderson makes Headers for the 401-425, they are Block Huggers, and I know on my friend 64 Riv the will hit the front crossmember, don't know about your car though.
13. I have an old general shop manual from 1960, it says to unbolt the torque tube from both ends and to disengage it from the bvack of the transmission, this is the part I can't figure out.
14. How do get the Torque Tube disengaged for the Dyanflow, I'm beginning to pull my tranny but got stuck because I couldn't figure out how to pull it out. Also, how many bolts are there that hold the torque converter to flywheel?
15. After martket Tachs are also very easy to hook up, I put one in my friends truck a while back and the hardest part was finding a decent mounting location. The Autometers dcome with pretty good directions to help you.
16. I live in N. Califorina,go to www.gmsportssalvage.com They are parting out quite a few Buicks starting with I belive a 63 or 64 Wildcat, I saw it when it was first brought in and was fairly complete, that was about 2 months ago though, don't know what condition the motor or trans were in.
17. My neighbor has a 56 olds in which they convereted to disk brakes with basically junkyard parts, they just found some good size rotors with the right diameter center so that the stock bearings would fit, 3rd gen camaro calipers, and some custom caliper mounting brakets. don't know it helps any, but its worth a shot?
18. I think people should be able to do what they want to their cars. I'm 18, and when I go the shows here in the San Francisco area I look at the resored originals and customs as someones hard work. I don't criticize because someone took a car that could've easily been restored and instead chopped, dropped and did any other custom tricks to it. I have a '55 Roadmaster 4dr and am in the process of mildly (very) customizing it.
Most people would look at the body as repainted and flamed, but I'm planning on using the original color for the body, but am changing the roof from white to silver. The only real body mods performed were shaving the mirors on th fenders. The real work is taking place underneath, with the adapting of a TH350 and a 9 inch to the 56,000 mile original 322 (New carb, intake).
This car could have been resotred orginal easier than it will be to customize it, but thats not what I like, but I definately would never take an all original or restored car and go custom with it. I believe people should go with whatever floats their boat, but I don't think anyone should be criticized for taking a car, seeing in their mind as a custom, or 100 point show stopper.
People build their cars to be looked at and appreciated, not criticized.
19. I remember before I had my Buick, I had 61 VW, went camping for the weekend, cameback and someone decided they wanted my taillight buckets.
20. Does anyone know if the quarter panel off a 56 BUick 4dr will work with a 55 4dr? How about the hood, and will the rear bumper bolt up ( I know they look different) Any help would be appretiated.
