  1. Hi Willie,

this morning I had a look under the lower mouldings of my 55 Buick. I don't know how the mouldings are fixed but the are no clips or so... The mouldings are not attached to the body or rubber. Just at the edges and the side mouldings. Very funny... but this will not work at the Olds but it is the same system.

I found four small clips. Perhaps they will work for it. Could also be that they are for the rear window. Who knows...

  2. Hi Willie,

thanks for the answer. I probably have the parts but I have no idea how they look like. Have a lot of clips and so on but what is the correct for these mouldings ?

At the edges are two "clips" at each edge one. These are screwed on the body and hold the lower mouldings down. Are the other clips also screwed on the body or just clipped on the rubber like at the rear window?

I am a bit afraid to remove the mouldings at my Buick. I don't want to damage something.

    Greetings

  3. Hello !

I am restoring at the moment a 1955 Oldsmobile and have now to put the mouldings around the windshield.

Top and sides are no problem but how can I fasten the two lower mouldings in the middle ? The car came in boxes an so I have no idea.

Perhaps someone could help me and has even a photo ?

I own a 1955 Buick and saw that it looks like the Olds so this is the reason why I ask here but I don't want to remove the mouldings at my Buick.

  5. Hello you all,

we own three Model Ts and one makes trouble. It is our 1927 Coupe. The engine runs unevenly, on first gear it runs ok but in 2nd it has just a few power.

I have checked the voltage at the coils at our 1924 and this car. the 1924 shows at three coils around 0,7 Volts and at one 6.4 Volts with ignition on. This car runs good. At the 27 it shows at one coil 6.4 Volts and the other have 3.1 Volts. I disconnected the wire with comes from the distributor to the coils and checked the voltage at the end with actually attached at the coils.

Whey does the 27 shows more voltage than the 24 ?

    Thanks for your help

  6. Hello !

I am glad, my 1912 Cadillac runs with a new ignition coil... Yahooo...

But : Now I cleaned the vibrator on the batt-ignition side and this works also ( First time since I own the car ). My question is : How much volts should the dry cell have : 6 or 12 ? In the owners manual I can see that the dry cell they used have 6 single cells. Actually then it should be 12 volts or ? Or should I use just 6 volts ?

    Thanks for you help.

  7. Hello you all.

Some years ago we bought an 1955 Oldsmobile Super 88 4 door Sedan. It came in boxes to us and I have to complete the puzzle....

At the moment I am at the head lining. I have no idea how to attach the "bows" of the headlining to the sides above the doors.

Has someone a photo where I can see it ? I am not sure if there are some parts missing. I could stick one end of the bow into a hole above the windows and then ? Where to fix the other end ?

    Thanks for your help.

    Kind regards

  9. Hello,

    thanks for the answers.

Engine runs actually good. If I press the gas pedal a bit more I hear a sound like a race engine or so. Sounds hard... like roooar.. or so.

Our gas is all unleaded. At the moment I don't use a additive since the engine was not restored so there should be enough lead still on the valve seats.

How much octane had the high octane gas in the 50s ?

If you write 89 octane... is it 89 octane MOZ, POZ or ROZ ? I think POZ, or ? In Germany we have it after the "ROZ" methode. Our highest octane gas is premium plus with 98 octane and Shell offers a 100 octane gas.

Gas prices are very high today. This weekend is a holiday weekend and for 1 Liter unleaded ( normal ) gas we pay up to EUR 1.17.

  11. Hello you all !

I own a 1955 Buick Century. I always take normal unleaded gas for this car. Some days ago a guy said that I have to use premium or I will ruin the engine.

What would you say : for the 1955 322 cui engine : Unleaded or premium gas ?

And : Was there a very high octance gas in USA available at gas station or just the normal premium we use today ? Since when was "Premium" gas available in USA ?

  13. Hello and thank you all for your postings.

I am sorry that I didn't answer but I was very busy the last days.

In the meantime I solved the problem by myself but without to remove the wheel but I have to know it for the future. When I have a bit time I will take a photo of the hub.

    Kind regards

    Tom
