  1. Good Afternoon All Currently laid up for a month or more (elbow surgery) so thought I would take care of some of the less "weighty" items that only require one good arm on my road back to perfection. Situation: 1957 Cadillac Type 62, black exterior (Paint placard still in engine compartment) with a cream colored lower half of the dashboard on the interior that has several small scratches. Would like to touch these up and while I have found some old paint cards for the year, there are several colors too close to determine which one I have. My first question: Is there anything ON the vehicle that specifies the color used? Or am I relegated to trial/error till I get the exact match? Second question: Would like to spiff up the engine compartment. Does anybody know what the original specs for the compartment paint(s)were for things like the air filter housing, battery tray, etc? (Will probably NOT touch the blue valve covers.) Any info will be surely appreciated, thanks. ---zzzdogman
  2. Good Afternoon All. Have a 57 Cadillac Type 62 (see pics). I'm laid up (elbow surgery) for a month or more so figured I'd start doing "small" stuff in making her better every day. Looking for a pic of an original battery hold down for this vehicle. Or better yet if anyone has one for sale or a line on one for sale. Just crossed the line from original only by putting put a repro fuel tank (danged if I could find a real one anywhere) in so while I was trying to stay nothing but original, a repro would be OK at this point. Thoughts? Any info would surely be appreciated. Thanks --zzzdogman
  3. Thanks all for the inputs...just a quick clarification. Car starts and runs fine for 10-15 minutes. Full power, no smoke, no misses, city, highway, etc., drives like a dream. Somewheres between 10-15 minutes is when it goes bonkers. I would think she would be well warmed up before that? Thoughts?
  4. Bloo thanks for the reply...are you thinking that choke is more than likely closing and causing all the hiccupping?
  5. Good Afternoon and Merry Christmas Eve to All, Subject car passed down from my Dad. Ran/started perfectly but after about ten minutes (enough time to get warm) started running rough, smoking, no power. My conclusion overheating coil. Got a replacement coil from Biernbaum's and finally got around to replacing it a couple a three weeks ago. Could not get the vehicle to start. Put the old coil back in and could not get the vehicle to start. Checked the new coil on my multimeter pos to neg posts and had good continuity. Pos or neg to coil distributor lead zero continuity. Question: Any ideas what else I may have fried coincident with using the bad coil that would make the old coil not start the carcoil ? What am I missing? Any thoughts are welcome at this point. Thanks. Also, any recommendations for a replacement coil? What to buy, what to stay away from?
