I finished up the valve job on the 39 installed the intake and exhoust manifolds from my spare 38 engine went to put the carb on didn't fit the studs or off a about 1/4 inch great now what the 39 carb i rebuilt and the float is missing for the 38 carb and have no rebuild kit but was lucky the butter fly housing unbolts from carbs the bore in a little smaller if it was importin would bore it out and swap butterfly's no point the car runs great now have adjustable idle the part number is the same on exhoust but a little different on intake look dead on the same to the eye i left the pipe that was on the exhoust about a foot it's on good will add on a piece from there to the muffler soon onto king pins
  6. Very nice engine Here is one i made years ago i think it was for a Olds or Massey I had a extra stone holder machined it to fit one end and put a socket at the other for the B&D valve seat drill

I got my word mixed up it started well and idal was a little hi but after a dive it went up a bit the crack i guess opened up plus the gaskets were very old they were most likely never taken off the engine I check for air leaks never found any and vacuum was around 20 it will be fine now with the new intake and exhaust the compression was low on 2 cylinders there was not much gap on the 2 valves in these cylinders and these valves needed to be dressed a bit on my B&D valve grinder the rest lapped in by hand quick

Drove the car around town this summer ran not bad for sitting for years was not able to get the idle down rebuilt carb mixture screw did not c do much and was worse when hot plus plugs were on the hot side this week I took the head off when i took the intake off the middle horn broke off so was sucking air all this time so thats why was running rich and the exhaust had a couple of cracks and as i thought the heat riser was jammed on heating up the intake and not letting out the exhaust out much on 3 cylinders. that made for harder starting when hot the valves are lap in now should be up and running again soon the spare engine i had will come in handy for the manifolds
  9. Keith this engine was painted around 1990 and the neck is painted I haven't taken it apart yet .i can install the other neck and pump when the time comes if needed i called the parts store there is a gasket set coming in the morning last one in stock thanks for the help

Thanks Keith I will order both to be safe along with the other gaskets .Is there a part number for the whole set And as in my other reply this pump has been on for a long time and car runs cool put 200 300 miles on it in some hot weather thanks again Brian Found this set sent seller message to see if it's for my engine will check with my parts store also C $102.64
  11. not sure about the pump the engine runs cool and has been on this car for a long time was painted in around 1990 the car was handed down to me he wasn't much into changing things i just changed the plugs still looked good but had the same paint on the base of them as the engine

  13. thanks for the info Now i don't know what i am talking about I don't see a bump on either engine the one on the ground is from a 38 the other for the 39 Would like the parts here so i can do it between xmas and Newyear's don't what this in the garage all winter
