Nostalgia. And sentimental memories.
The car grandma droveThe car my parents took me to school in.
My first car. The car I bought with my own money. (After dad approved of course).
Car buffs don’t need transportation. They want to remember their past.
The cars of their youth.
They want the comfort of long ago even if it never really happened that way but it’s how they want to experience it as an adult.
That’s why we want Detroit dinosaur family sedans……..I understand nostalgia. I wish I had the car I learned how to drive in, a '64 Dodge Dart convertible. At least it was a cool car even back then.

Nice car, but four months, no price change and no takers?
He doesn't want to sell it that bad.
-
Styling and color is right. Putrid, IMO.
I still fail to see why any self respecting old car buff would want one of these Detroit malaise era family sedan dinosaurs. $7000? Give me a break.

Killer color combination. I have never seen this color on a T-Bird either.

I'd love to see this car in my driveway every morning.

Are those rust spots, or leaves stuck to it?

Very nice car! I don't know about the originality either, but I think it looks great. Is there a reason why people take pictures of their cars wet?

Typical Sussex County goofball mentality. Can't sell it at $26,900, so he increases the price to $35000. What a schmuck.
There's a guy in Bergen County trying to sell a nice vintage Slingerland drumset for months now. He keeps raising and lowering the price, recently from $849 back up to $1699. I just don't understand the thought process.

I'll take the blue one with the cute Sally Field lookalike. 😁

That's egregious. A travesty. It reminds me of what my grandfather used to do with a jigsaw on wood.

What reference source will give me a realistic market value of a car I'd consider buying? Doesn't Hagerty have something useful?

Goshen is 40 minutes from here. Can't hurt to take a look.

I understand, John, but I have been seeing cars like these on the road for years, decades, and while 22-23 mpg highway isn't bad, it's not what I consider economical mileage, when I can get 27-28 in a Subaru.
Those are attractive cars, just not for me. As I've said before, to each his own. I just have no love at all for big sedans like this.
When my father passed, I got his Buick LeSabre. I don't remember the year. I believe it was a '95 or '96. It was like handling a big boat. Going around tight corners was always a challenge. My wife needed it more than I, so she drove it for a few years, and we finally sold it around 2002, to a guy who liked this particular type of car. I never liked driving it. It just wasn't tight enough in its handling.

Agree colors are about a bland as they could be. These are nice cars but would be so much more appealing in a sharp color combo like black over a red interior. At least it's not gray on gray though! That is the worst.
Thank you. Some people just like bland colors on their cars, judging by the number of black, white, grey and silver cars you see. I say this all the time, but I'll take the bright colors from the 1950s.

I hate to be snarky, but to me, that's a bland '80s gas guzzler. The color is so boring. It would look better in a blue or dark red. I'm sure these cars have their fans. To each his own.

There's a Darrin up here in Sussex County at Space Farms, a local kid's attraction. It's been there for years and needs work. It's a stationary vehicle in their museum. They have a zoo, and have reportedly been cited many times for mistreatment of animals. The family has a reputation around the county for being "eccentric."

It maybe a great reliable car; but it doesn't exude fun to drive or any sort of fashion statement! It's just boring!
I agree completely. Plain Jane Vanilla. Pukey color too.

I knew that one would go quick. Just too cool and rare. Yep I realize how rough it was and pricey. But if you are going to restore a 50's Dodge this is the one to do. A tribute to the forward thinking of Exner and crew to recognize that women had a place in buying cars and influencing decisions to persuade others buying cars. The Red Ram Hemi under the hood is the chef's kiss!
Exner and his team may have been visionaries in their thinking, but this wasn't the car that the girls loved, just as that Gretsch Princess guitar likewise tanked. I think it all goes back to the misconceptions men had about marketing to woman in the '50s. "Make it feminine, and they'll love it." Not.
My younger daughter wants to trade in her Audi (a lemon, by the way), for a pickup truck. You go, girl.

Years ago, the Gretsch guitar company released a solidbody guitar called the Princess model, specifically geared to women. It came in pastel colors with bejeweled control knobs and other feminine appointments, It was a colossal flop and is very rare today.

I've been waiting to see if anyone replied to this thread. I guess not!
These Nashes don't get any love here, but this example is much better looking than those egregious bathtub models we always see for sale. Would I buy it? No. But it's passably decent looking.

How can you go wrong for $1850? Whatever is wrong can be fixed easily it seems.

I don't know if it's a good price or not, but I like it.

I'd drive it just the way it is. Love it. It's just funky enough to be cool.

This might be a case of, "You need to sell those old cars. I want them off the property."
"Yes, dear."
