The lug nuts that were improperly tightened were on a rim I no longer have - that is the one that sustained damage to the lug nut holes. The rim in my photo is a replacement rim procured by the garage (from a seller in Denver) and is currently in place on my car. Now I am worried this rim may be the wrong type/style/size/offset (a disaster waiting to happen).

I have noticed several threads mentioning 3 or more styles / types of rims each what I assume is differing off-sets. I never really understood the difference between them.

    1) Which style / type of rim (the three digit number) ought I have on my 65 Riviera Gran Sport (I assume the one I photo'ed is a 895?) ? Where is this number found?

    2) What is the proper offset I ought to have? (this may sound similar to question 1 above but inquiring minds want to know)

Craig, your chrome wheel is a '71 and up wheel.

Now -- how the h3ll can you tell that!! - 🤔 -- calibrated eyeballs??!!??

BTW - that rim needed to be replaced when a garage neglected to torque the 5x lug nuts. The old (original?) rim was held on with 2 lug nuts and the holes were well and truly auger-ed out. I was lucky to find it and didn't know it was "off" by 6 years

If anyone needs anything special that I may have send  me a message.

How about a set of instructions covering how to fold the pieces and where (precisely) they fit.

I bought a set of the carboard pieces last year (don't recall from whom) but haven't installed it yet

Here is the info on the place we have used in the past for conversions of the original radio

DR914 - unfortunately, buried at the bottom of their "Contact" tab: No longer accepting radios for conversions.

And, sadly, if you click on "Radio Conversions" on the home page:

AS OF 12/1/2021 WE DO NOT CONVERT OR REPAIR RADIOS. Due to the death of the owner, Greg Thompson, we are no longer able to provide this service. Website is being left for now to allow access to the information it provides as a resource.

I sent my original '65 dirty rusty radio to (Gary) Tayback Electronic in Sarasota.

I Googled the above and came up empty.

  7. A feature that may speed your search is an app called searchtempest.com. It searches facebook, craigslist, and ebay ads

I entered 1965 Buick Riviera GS and found a bunch

    Here is the results

    https://www.searchtempest.com/search?search_string=Buick Riviera GS&category=8&subcat=cta&autoMake=Buick&autoModel=Riviera GS&minYear=1965&maxYear=1965&cityselect=zip&location=80106&maxDist=50000#gsc.tab=0

  8. You may find your buckle at Ssnake-Oyl (I know you know of them and their prices)

I sent these buckles to them (first two photos)

And received these in return - third photo

It appears to me you have been searching for the missing buckle for 3-4 years - you may need to ju$t bite the bullet

    That sir, is RED!

Thank You - that was my goal.

I told my painter that if my car were parked with 9 other red cars, mine was to be the red-est.

I shopped colors for 7 years at car shows and unknowingly PPG Viper Red (his recommendation) was in my top 3.

Choice was easy at that point

  10. To provide even better protection, I used ceramic coating on my new paint (on my XKE)

It is hydroscopic (water rolls right off) and protects the paint from minor scratches' also provides protection against UV fade.

Each manufacturer will have different prep requirements.

In my case there were 4 levels of quality - levels 3 and 4 required a final buffering by an experienced paint / body guy. He used a 30,000 grit pad on his buffer to touch up the final shine.

My Jag has 2-3 coats of Viper Red PPG paint and 3-4 coats of clear - then the ceramic coating
