Very unusual for the old insulation to come out in one piece...you should make a template and do a repro project...or send the template to someone who might consider doing it.

    Tom

I think I may have found the template for this project, We just get rid of the white and red in Texas.

I did not investigate this today. One reason is that the Riviera did not go up on their Lift after I showed them Lift points. They decided upon floor jacks. Again I showed them where to lift. Did the front first then before I knew, they had the rear up on Rocker pinch welds. It held! However, out in the parking lot, I noticed one side is bent. Must have happened lowering off those jacks.

I'll investigate that clunk some other time. Enough Riviera for now😕

That will dolly out pretty easily with a flat body hammer and a toe dolly on the backside.

  3. The felt wears out in the upper portion of the felt channel. top of the door. Crack the glass down just slightly just so it is not pressed against the top of the channel. I am betting the noise will be gone.

I am currently getting my policy updated on my car. State Farm offers an antique car policy, but I had to provide an appraisal and photos.

Just got the ball rolling yesterday, and they are supposed to email me the details, and said my rate should drop a fair amount.

I have State Farm, they just raised my rate $6.50 per month to $41.50 per month. Alost $500 a year. I will be contacting JC Taylor, as others have mentioned way better rates.

It's actually got more slack than the pic shows; it's s not linked or compressed in any way. That pic really does make it looks like it needs to be longer, or something though.

Good deal, Just looking out for ya.😂

  6. That A/C compressor appears to be really restricting your heater hose. Is there a better way you could reroute it? I know this is not why you posted, and I mean no disrespect. Your engine looks great.

  7. I hate to be the negative Nellie here, but if you put new lifters on that cam, it will cut it down in a 100 miles. Cam and lifters need to break in as a set at 2000 rpm for the first 10 minutes of run time. That cam has lost its chrome hardening as well as those lifters, which is fine because they were broke in together. Your new lifters will cut that cam like butter. That cam is worn out in my opinion. At least do the cam/lifters and  timing chain and gears. Good luck with the project. It is a pretty car.

Your '65 looks great!  Very handsome color combination!

You've done an excellent job of keeping it in good condition.

Thank you! I am the 3rd owner. The second owner let it sit for 9 years. It was sold new 20 miles from me.

AM, AM wonder bar, FM, power antenna?  Anything else you might think is an option? What wheel covers? Just trying to help you sort out your car.

Just an AM radio, standard hubcaps, however I have road wheels on it presently. Fixed antennae. It does have factory air shocks in the rear. I think that is all.

The other items on your data plate are:

TR609 - Saddle trim standard interior

    SS - Sahara Mist paint

    E - tinted windows

    X - power windows

    2R - rear seat speaker

    4F - remote mirror

    5W - seat belts w/ retractors

Only the options installed in the Fisher Body plant are on this plate. Anything from the dash forward that was installed during final assembly does not appear on this plate. Things like cruise control, four note horns, wheel covers, etc.  All 1965 Rivieras came with power steering, power brakes, V8 engine with 4 bbl carburetor and dual exhausts, and tilt wheel as standard equipment.

Yep, that about covers the options. It is a low optioned car. It does have the speed minder if that was an option?

No new lifters just shimmed, WHY..???

I am not 100% sure on this, but I have been told that because a nailhead has no valve adjustment, that valve stem height should be measured. Then after a valve grind, the same amount that was removed from the valve should be taken off the valve stems to retain the correct height. They may have tried achieving that end using shims instead.
