Thank you guys so very much for all your help. I have been working on the 1949 Buick Super that used to be my dad's... I could not figure out what I was doing wrong with the timing. This was so helpful. I am hoping this information will make a difference. Now back to the car.

Very Nice Car Wilf; a job well done. I am also restoring a 1949 Buick Super that was my father's; he passed away over 35 years ago and my bother and I being kids put it on block in the back yard. My project is on year 3 and I am almost there. I found your blog because I am also having trouble with the gauges. I am hoping to find some tips to get them working, otherwise I can not drive the car. Here in Canada I have to pass an inspection and the gauges are the problem. GOOD JOB...
