Thanks for your help but don't waste a lot of time on it. They are probably dead anyway I need to find some older member in the Rochester NY area and see if they remember him or the car.

Dave my smart phone an tablet are smarter than me. I can't figure how to get my saved pictures to post on here. If you pm or email me your contact info I will try to send you some pictures of my Whites.

Thanks for the link Dave very interesting. The picture of my truck was not on the Oakland thread but on the thread by edinmass about the 1934 Buick he and Phil got . I will try to post some pictures of my White trucks later this evening.

Rob did you notice that in the ad you posted under the picture of my car there is no battery box for the 6-24 volt battery and in the specs it listed it as having an air starter? I don't think they ever made any that way but but I have seen other pre production adds like this.

Thanks Chris I have never heard of that sight but I am not very educated on the internet.

Thank you Gary I have been trying for many years to find early info on this car and no one seems to know Mr Welsh or any of his family. The. car was written up in the Antique Automobile magazine in the 1960' s when he lived in Riverview FL but none of the old timers around the Tampa bay area remember him I am sure he is dead by now and maybe his children also. The car is a southern wide track car so I am sure it didn't come from NY. In the 1950's and 60's most people didn't travel to far to get cars to restore so I have always assumed it was a FL car. The early FL registration list for the 1913-14 time period list about 5 Oakland's three of which were near Riverview but unfortunately Fl registration did not require a engine or model number only the owner name and address make and body style so that has not been much help.I guess I will have to keep looking.

Yes that is my car and I have never seen that article. This will be a great help in finding the living members of his family so I can try to track down the early history of the car thanks Chris. Where did you find this article?

I am the owner of the red 6-60 pictured here. The car is now under rerestoration and hope to have it back on the road this fall. This car is a southern widetrack and was restored in Riverview FL in the late 1950s or early 1960s by a Mr Daniel Welsh and written up in the May-June 1968 issue of the Antique Automobile. I have been lookIng for years to find someone that might remember him or his family to try to find where the car came from,if anyone knows anything about him please let me know. The picture postcard of the man with no arms is of Mr Frank E Fithen . He has quite a history you can find on the internet but he drove that car to every Oakland dealership across the country as a promotion for Oakland. He sold those those postcards to make a living and many of them show up eBay from time to time. As far as I know my car is the only surviving 6-60 and I have been looking for about 40 years if you know of any others please contact me.

Padgett the bulb for the serpent horn is probably on the floor to push with your foot that was where the bulb was for the horn on my 1910 White steamer

Having several 7 pass cars a Yellowstone bus and a Stanley MT. wagon I always seem to have people along for a ride. When people see the Stanley they always ask how can you drive this thing. I tell them it's the easiest car I have to drive it's just the hardest to operate. I even let the ones that I can tell have a real interest in old cars drive it but only if I am with them to operate it.

Ed I know you have been busy so I didn't want to bother you but I have several thing you might be interested in. I just talked to my friend out west , he has a 1916 60hp 6 cyl White and also the remains of a duel valve 4 Cyl car .Also you said the man your car came from was a long time Tampa FL resident if he was there in the early 60s I would love to see if he knew the man that restored my 1913 60 horse Oakland most of the old timers in the Tampa area that I knew have passed on.Call me when you get time I am still in NC. The number here is 828 524 6702 and I am up up till 10:30 most evenings

Ed I know you said the tires are new do you mean ones made in the past few years or new when put on the car years ago but just not used? I am not very good at typing but would like to tell you my experiences about non skid tires. My son and I took the Yellowstone bus about 100 miles through the mountains yesterday and took the 24 cad. and 13 Oakland over 100 miles today. Call me if you get a chance 828 524 6702.

Ed before you start putting new tubes and flaps in those non skid tires give me a call.I also have another idea on the water pump shaft.Phone is 828 524 6702

Ed for what it is worth many years ago I had a 1917 Velie. The water pump shaft was no where near as complicated as the White but in much worse shape.Took it to the local machine shop and they turned down the bad spots and welded up the under cut to oversize then machined it back down and polished it. I drove that car many miles and never had a problem with it. Wound up selling it back to a Velie family member. The bottom end of your engine looks almost the same as the engine in my Yellowstone bus.

Just got time to catch up on the progress on the White.White did not use packing on many of their water pumps the fit was so close that a little water pump grease was all you needed. The early v-8 cad. used a chain drive fan great set up. I changed the light bulbs in my 24 cad. to LED. Best thing I ever did for safety and older eyes. Also great for the generator now have juice left over and can see where I am going and people can see me.

Dr I do not know you but my son and I have or have had 8 or 10 whites over the years . I currently have a 15 45 Yellowstone his the I drive all the time.I live in Venice Fl in the winter and Franklin Nc in summer.I am sure you know not to loose any original White bolts and try to replace them with stock modern bolts or just because White used ALAM bolts not SAE bolts. Also White made many 7 pass cars in 1917 for Yellowstone Park as well as the buses. Would love to come see you car when I get back to Fl . Marks magneto is one of the best for magneto work but he is usually backed up. Call me if you think I could help you 941 468 6795 cell or 828 524 6702 in Nc.

I know all those places have trailer hitch balls but this size has not been commonly used since the 1930's or 40's. It will have to come from a specialty supplier or someone that just has an old one.
