  1. If you are on the lookout for automotive gifts, whether it's for others or yourself, be sure to check out the AACA Library for some great deals. Almost everything in the store is marked 30% off. There are over 3,000 items to choose from, with everything from automotive books and sales literature to vintage shop manuals and reproduction factory photographs. This is an opportunity for you to score a great deal while helping out the library at the same time; Proceeds benefit the library! The items that we sell represent doubles of what we already have, non-automotive items, etc.

We are running the sale through Sunday, December 10th to allow ample time for holiday shoppers. All deals are first come, first serve so don't miss out. Shipping fees will be waived for those interested in picking up their items in person (if you happen to live close enough to the AACA Library).

Here is the link to our eBay store:

Items are available for immediate purchase through eBay. Please read the following note if you plan on buying multiple items: "click" the "add to cart" button and NOT the "buy it now" button (clicking "buy it now" would require immediate payment on each item, and you would be paying for shipping on every item). When finished adding all the items to your virtual cart, click the shopping cart icon in the upper righthand corner. Next, click the "request total from seller" button.

  4. The AACA Library is currently auctioning off several unique and exciting pieces of automotive sales literature, including many hard-to-find pre-war pieces. Looking for a 1910 Buick catalog? Do you fancy any Stutz or Cord literature? Or perhaps a 1964 Corvette owner's manual? If you are a true patriot there's even a 1976 Jeep catalog - It's actually a pretty cool catalog! You can find these items and more by following the link below:

    November eBay Auction

We also have over 2,000 reproduction factory photographs, books and sales literature listed for immediate sale in the "Buy-it-Now" format. To see these items, follow the link below:

    "Buy-it-Now" Listings

Auction format listings are slated to end between Wednesday, November 8th and Monday, November 13th.  The materials we are selling are doubles of what we already have. Proceeds benefit the AACA Library & Research Center. Get your "bidding fingers" ready and don't miss out!

    How about the AACA Library?

    Hi,

I am one of the librarians working for the AACA Library & Research Center. We do not appear to have material pertaining to this artist, although we do have files on a few automotive artists (ie: A. Radebaugh & A. Kow).

It might be worth your while to reach out to the National Library of France. A good starting point might be art encyclopedias:

    http://www.bnf.fr/en/tools/a.welcome_to_the_bnf.html

If you do find out anything further, please feel free to pass on your findings to the AACA Library because we would be happy to start a file on this artist. Best of luck with your hunt!

    What year was this?

It sounds as if it was printed after competitors' cars,

such as the Camaro, Firebird, and maybe the Mercury Cougar,

came out to challenge the Mustang's dominance.

    Hi John,

The ad is for the 1968 model year. I didn't scan the ad but it looks like it is from a two page spread, which you can see here:

  10. Hi Bob,

I checked our collection and didn't come across a book featuring teens restoring a Hispano Suiza. I also tried playing around with some search terms to see if I could find the book online. Do you know what year it might have been published? What was on the cover? If your happen to remember the author's last name, that will probably be your best clue (though it sounds like the name is eluding you). Best of luck with your hunt!

I just read your article on the Beech Creek trucks in the March-April issue of Antique Automobile. Neat story! I grew up in Mansfield PA and my grandfather was a dairy farmer there. I'd be interested in following up the lead of who the farmer in Mansfield was that bought the truck. Some of the family might still be around and it would be great to find their story.  There is an active historical group in Mansfield that might help me track any info available. Do we have a name of the Farmer?

    Hi Mr. Allen,

Glad you liked the article. Thanks for reading!

I was unable to find a name in my research. The 1970s Antique Automobile article on the truck references the "Mansfield Dair Company" as having bought a truck in 1916 and that Ziba Hitt (Beech Creek test driver since 1915) moved to Mansfield when the truck was sold to the dairy. He drove it until it was scrapped in 1921. A 1967 newspaper article mentions the firm was acquired by the Dairymen's League in 1921. It mentions another truck being purchased by a Blanchard area farmer by the name of James Smith.

It would be exciting to find out if your grandfather owned one of the trucks. Good luck with your hunt and be sure to keep us updated!

  14. Hi Mr. Babcock,

I've not yet had a chance to look through our holdings; I've been preparing for next week's Fall Meet Yard Sale. I will be able to dig more into this when things wind down after Fall Meet or if there is any downtime next week.

In the meantime, if you find out anything else feel free to post it here. Have a good one.

    Sincerely,

    Matthew Hocker

    Assistant Librarian

  15. Hello,

Here is how you can add an image to your post.

Click on "Reply to this Topic." Next, look for a small paperclip icon with text next to it reading, "Drag files here to attach, or choose files..." Click on "choose files..." This will then bring up a window, where you need to manually look for the files you want to add. If you are having trouble navigating the file folders, do a search on the file name you saved the image as.

    Hope this helps you out.

    Best Regards,

    Matthew Hocker

    Assistant Librarian
