Hi Steve,
I am in Ellicott City. You might want to consider joining BOOM, Buick Owners of Maryland. A lot of cool guys that know a thing or two about Buicks and Nailheads.

Lamar,
Thanks and Merry Christmas too you also.

My state requires a license plate in both the front and rear. I have a front license plate bracket from a 1956 Roadmaster, is it a direct fit onto a 1956 Special front bumper?
-
Mr Earl,
Would this suffice for a 1956 Model 48.
Thanks,
Mark

I am looking for the "main" pinion and ring gears, not the whole diff.
Good thought on knowing the difference in the carriers between posi and non-posi.

Anyone have any leads on where to find replacement pinion and ring gears out of a 65 Riviera (3.23 Posi)? I have called around to several Diff shops to no avail.
Thanks,
Mark

Thanks for the offer, just need the pinion and ring gears for a 3.23, not a complete rear end.

Looking for a good set of ring and pinion gears for a 3.23 Posi (65 Riviera)
Thanks,

I picked some up from alloyboltz about seven months ago to put a 401 in my 56. I had to get different years' exhaust manifolds to fit around the frame and steering box. They were not all the same size and they worked great. Yes they were stainless and Grade 8.

Bill,
Car looks great... You are making good progress. Are you going to the tech session this Sunday at Berger's? I hope to find out who from BOOM intends to convoy to Allentown. You interested in convoying up there?

Pete,
On the 56 rear bumper there are three main components: the bumper itself, the bumper guards, and the bumper rails. the bumper rails are placed on the bumper on both the left and right side about mid-way between the top and bottom of the bumper at each or the corners of the bumper.
Thanks,
Mark

not sure if they are interchangeable for 54 but, I am looking for the left and ride side rear bumper rails for a 56 model 48 (parts number 1169850 and 1169851). If anyone has them and is going to Allentown please let me know, I am very interested. And if you have them and aren't going to Allentown still let me know.
Thanks,
Mark

Paul,
Welcome to the wonderful world of Buicks. I have a 56 model 48 (modified) and live in MD. We have a local chapter here and do a Buick Car Show in the September time frame. Also there is a Buick Car Show in Mechanicsburg PA in early June that is not too far from you. Hope to see you around. BTW that is very nice Roadmaster.

Hi Mark,
WOW!!! They did a great job installing the 66 engine in your 56 BUICK.
The outside looks as good as it did at the BOOM picnic last summer.
The under hood is " OUT OF BOUNDS " , just a great job !!!
Bill
Bill, thanks for the kind words. How is your project coming?

Hello everyone, I have been on this forum for a short time compared to most of you and have finally got my car to a state of completeness where I can share pictures with you. When I bought the car it was in Ohio and I was told it was originally a California car. As you can see from the pictures, this is a resto-mod with quite a few modifications. Some of the modifications are 66 401 bored out .60 over w dual quads, 66 ST400, 3.23 posi in a 65 Riviera rearend just to name a few. Also, thank you to those that shared their words of wisdom while the modifications were being done.

Beemon,
I just upgraded my 56 model 48 to an open driveline. I left the original rearend with the shop that did the upgrade. If you want their contact information PM me for the info.

Hack,
Not sure what you are trying to say, what is Bing?

After 5 long months my 56 48D conversion to a 66 401 with dual quads and a 66 ST 400 is complete and ready for test drive this Wednesday. I know there is a myriad of things that I should look for but, one particular mechanical issue I am unsure of what to look for. Is there anything that I can listen for or observe that will tell me that the S/P is actually doing what is suppose to? That is either at engine idle, engine revved up and of course while driving? Thanks

Not sure all the tours for the 2017 Nationals have been nailed down yet. I understand the Volo Auto Museum is about 1hr away from the Nationals location and is an excellent place for car enthusiasts to visit. If not already on the tour list, it may be one to consider adding
