  1. Hello all.

I bought a rebuilt Cardone box to replace my leaking one. The old one has a 3/8" diameter by 1/2" long pin at the end of the shaft. The new one does not have that pin. Does this matter? Is the pin to help guide the shaft into the steering column?

Also, can I assume that the stub shaft is in the center position as it is? The flat part is in the same position as on the old box.

    Thanks,

OK JJ: In my experience owning many First-Gen Rivieras the plastic  65 saddle Custom arm rest  bolsters seem to be the most brittle. Can you get a back-up set or do you think they'll hold up?  Mitch

    Mitch,

I think the replacement ones will hold up, not going to worry about a back up set. I see what you mean by brittle. It seems like I just touched the one in the picture with my knee and it cracked.

  3. Good day,

I have not posted on here in a while. Looking for the correct paint brand and color for saddle interior parts. Previous owner, bless his heart - painted all of the interior parts and did the dash pad in a light tan color. The driver's seat has 2 different colors of vinyl on it, but that's a a whole 'nother story...

My driver's side front base cracked last fall and I got some nice arm rest bases from Bill Mawbey. Looking to paint those first.

Also wondering what the left-most switch should be on the plate above the radio. I have courtesy light and antenna now. I can post the data plate to show the options if that makes a difference.

    Thanks!

    Hello,

I picked this up this week and I'm looking for information and a value on it. Looks pretty nice, has a sensor screwed into it. There may be a repair on the threaded flange on the front side of the manifold. See pictures.

    Thanks,

It's from a '57 Adventurer. From looking at this picture of that area, it's been modified...

I am VERY familiar with this car. My friend purchased this through an auction house in Chicago on Ebay about 12 or 15 years ago. I stayed at his farm in Vermont for a week before the ROA meet in Gettysburg a few years back and I had a chance to thoroughly inspect the car as he wanted me to buy it. I passed on the opportunity because although I believe this car was a very well kept original GS there was obviously some rust repair which was performed before repaint and that repair was starting to show through. If you look closely at the pics there are some non original generic moldings which have been placed around the body....or at least there was when I looked at it. The car was originally white, the dual quads were added. If this was an original SCO paint dual quad car I would have had it on a Uhaul trailer in Gettysburg. My friend sold this car and a `62 Tbird convert to a dealer in Vermont who I believe is running it through Mecum.

Sadly, my friend passed away a few months after my stay but thankfully I was able to spend some quality time with him on the farm. He was a very unique person who led an unusual life, and could weave a tale of it, over the course of a few too many whiskies, that was fascinating. My frequent chats with him are sorely missed.

Violet '66 GS sold for $25,300. Not sure if this link will show the price. You have to sign up on their website to see the auction results.

  6. You could do a search for the front end information in this forum, it's up at the upper right of your page. Or just scroll down through the posts, there were some recent ones on suspension for the first-gen Rivs. Tom Telesco (telriv) is a good person to start with on suspension information. Nice looking car. Good luck!

  7.  Those hoses should run from the heater core around the back and side of the carburetor to the front of the engine. I've dealt with this several times on my '63 and '65, it's a pain in the ass. It should be laying down by the heater core, not up like yours seems to be.  For reliability, the worm gear clamps should be used also, not the spring type. Look at some pictures on the internet to get an idea of the routing.

  8. Will these work for you?

I got these in a deal with some other parts. Not sure what year or purpose they are for. If someone knows what these are for, please let me know.

These are 2.72" diameter, .178" thick. They come with a double sided adhesive disc.
3 are in the original unopened packaging. 1 is as new, but has been removed from the packaging. 1 has a very slight blemish.
All 5 for $25 plus shipping.

If anyone is interested, message me and I'll send more pictures.

A follow up on this thread. I followed Kegart's lead and purchased both of the left driver's side metal trim pieces from Gene of abandg. I wanted a more original look than just the painted metal. I was able to cover both pieces with black vinyl. I am very happy with the results as I get the original look plus the durability of the metal construction.

    Bill,

Looks great. Did you glue the vinyl on? Did you ever get an answer from your original post as to what those other 2 pieces are?

Gene at AB&G has repros available.  They are metal & NOT plastic so they should never need replacing again. Problem is they don't have the "Graining" as original plastic, BUT there are ways around that for satisfactory results IF your looking for perfection.

    Tom,

I just ordered the last repro one from Gene for my '65. Not sure if he's getting more or not. Here's a picture of a '65 courtesy of Bill Mawbey. Is there a supplier for the push pins that secure the bracket?

Hi all, just wondering if anyone can help, I have a 69 with a paint code 57 D. So verde green but what does the D stand for? (Can’t find anything in google) thanks!

Hello. I'm surprised no one has chimed in on this yet. I know the '63-'65's better, but in '69, verde green would have been "M" paint code. My '65 has "S2" on it for paint code. So it was originally "S" - Sahara Mist and the "2" means it has a vinyl top. Might be a good idea to post a picture of your data plate, that would help. See picture for my data plate.
