Should be the new highest price paid for an American automobile and rightly so.

When you work with the public be prepared for anything. The longer you do it the more crazy stories you will collect. When you think you have seen it all something else will happen. Most people are great. But that fraction of a percent is amazing. I have had hate mail, hate e-mail, death threats and once a very large man tried to fight me because I wouldn't accept his lowball offer. Still a bad day playing with cars is better than a good day doing anything else.

Woven natural fiber works best with steel drums. It won't last the longest. But it will stop the best. Using any hard composite shoe material will be a mistake.

Having lots of interior color choices costs money. The American car companies try to keep it a 2 or 3 choices to save on production cost and time. The more a customer is willing to pay for a car the more choices they get.

I can't wait for the DV-32"s and the 2.9 Alpha"s to crash so I can have several of each.
If I find one of those in the scrap bin I will send it your way Ed. If you find any brass era Packards set out on the curb let me know.

I will be happy to take any unwanted prewar cars. I will give them a good home.

Matt,
Do the next guy a favor and mark which direction is off and on someplace on the hub. Sharpie or paint stick. If you want to get fancy a punch set.
Just an idea,

Not sure if it was mentioned previous. But what about installing a 6 volt alternator? That would solve all of the issues. I know several MARC winning Ford A's that get toured with alternators and when they go to the show field the generator is put back on.

There are 3 Cord coupes, 1 of which is original and 2 are copies (If I'm remembering correctly). The original would bring more money than a standard cabriolet. If they were made in equal number probably not. But these days, attractive coupes (think 32 3 window) can bring the same or more than an open car.
3 coupes were built originally. Today there are 4 or 5 that exist. I have seen at least 3 in the wild. One of the new ones has a fiberglass roof. Real coupes have an M in the serial number. A real coupe would bring more money than a Sportsman Cabriolet.

Well, I learn something every day. I've looked at Cord's since 1953 and never have seen one.
It was a 1936 only option and cost more than the standard interior. It could be done in any color cloth or leather the owner desired. Factory color choices for the Cord were only suggestions. Gordon Buehrig's personal Cord sedan had this interior. Here are a few more examples.

100G gets you an open one in fine order.
The 100G open cars tend not to shift themselves. It takes a little more today to get a good one.

Did they take a lot of liberties with the interior of this car, or was it a custom order. I see the paperwork, but can't read it. This is a beauty. Probably over $100K I'll bet.
That is an arm chair Beverly interior. It is done correctly.

The dog looks very serious about the whole matter.

It's awesome when cars have real history--I don't think mine has any of note beyond the headmistress of a girls' school in PA using it for its first few years of life. I just like the name Chester Nimitz. Sounds important and ridiculous all at once.
I'm also reminded of Charles Durning in that movie where the aircraft carrier goes back in time to Pearl Harbor. When he sees the name on the side of the ship he shouts, "They named a boat after Chester Nimitz? He's not even dead yet!"
Every car has real history. It is a shame they can't talk.

Matt,
Better to say your Buick was used by a Colonel or a Brigadier General. Anybody 2 stars and up aquired a Cadillac or a Packard. We owned a 1940 Cadillac V-16 a few years ago that was Fleet Admiral Chester Nimitz' west coast car. It came out of Harrah's Collection. Also had a 1941 Cadillac Convertible that was purchased on December 3rd 1941 by an Army Air Corps Major. Who trained B-17 crews in Colorado. Some cars have great stories.
