  1. Anyone done a Chevy engine swap into a 1955 Buick Roadmaster (ala Jay Leno). I would assume you have to go new from the engine through the rear end but would like any insights available, thanks.
  2. The width of the inside swept surface.
  3. Hello all, I have a question about the proper size of brake drums for a 1955 Buick Roadmaster series 70. My mechanic stated that the drums on the car are front 2 1/2 and rear 2 1/4. I purchased replacements from Cars and they shipped drums that were front 2 3/4 rear 2 1/2. Their catalog lists the size of the drums at 2 1/2 and 2 1/4. I contacted them for a return and they are telling me that what they sent is correct. I don't believe them but want to get feedback from the group before I escalate this up the chain. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.
  4. Bob, Thanks for a great catch. I just checked the other switches and they have the grooved switches. Does anyone know where I can get the right 4 switch replacement?

  6. Here is a photo of "Maxine", she has 42,000 miles. The interoir is all original (except for the drivers seat), one repaint.
  7. I thought of that but have seen a photo of a 55 Roadmaster with the window switch in that position.
  8. I have attached some photos showing the switch and the door panel. As you can see the door panel is curved the back of the switch is flat and will not sit flush. I believe it is the original switch but am not sure. Thanks for looking
  9. Thanks I will, the panel where the switch is mounted is steel. I'll try to take some photos today; of course then I will have to try and figure out how to post them.
  10. The electric window controls on my 1955 Roadmaster (drivers side 4 switchs) do not sit flush with the door. The chrome bezel is straight across on the back and it looks like it should be curved to fit flush. Do all the controls sit out from the door or do I need another chrome bezel? It appears to be original but I am not sure, thanks for the help.
  11. Does anyone have a diagram for the windshield washer vacum line set up for a 1955 Roadmaster? Thanks.
  12. I am new to this forum. I purchased a 1955 Roadmaster with 40,000 miles on it and have been doing some work on her. For some reason the heater under the seat puts out heat even when it is not turned on. Is there a bypass somewhere that may be disconnected or some other reason for constant heat? Thanks for your help, my name is Mike McGreaham and I'm in Boise, ID.
  13. Thanks for the info. Beautiful convertible.
  14. Thanks Bryan, I hope the experts chime in.
  15. Thanks John, I did a search under torque tube and did not find anything, I also started a new thread; hopefully someone has solved this problem.
  16. My Roadmaster has a transmission leak where the torque tube joins to the transmission. My mechanic tried to re-seal it but was unsuccessful. Any help such as procedure or literature would be greatly appreciated.
  17. Hi, I'm Mike residing in Boise, Idaho. I recently acqluired a 1955 Buick Roadmaster with 41,000 original miles and am excited to be on this forum. I am not sure if this is the right spot to ask this quesiton but here goes. My 55 has a transmissioin leak from the torque tube. My mechanic tried to seal it but did not get the job done, does anyone have any literature that gives a step by step procedure for this repair? I bought the Buick Manual from Old Cars but is does not address this issue, thanks.
