  16. David, Thank you. I sold those ARs because I wanted the original 65 Rally Wheel look and I am still looking for a clean set. The ARs were really nice wheels and had a nice look, and I had no problems with them, There was no interference from lock to lock whether moving or at rest. The car was original, had a little spring sag so the ride height was probably a bit low. I recently changed the Springs with ones from Coil Springs Specialties. The new springs are to the original standard specs. That is what you see in the Avatar with the original steel wheels and hub caps. Rock On gord
  17. I am new to the world of Riviera ownership. Bought one in July. I am now the caretaker of a 1965 black/black/black vinyl top (original) that took me about 25 years to find. I am the third owner. My dad had a very similar one and I always wanted one too. And I really got a good one, nice and clean and straight, almost completely original - except there is new paint (from the second owner), some mechanical things that needed attention were done, and of course the usual maintenance items. Runs great and 58k miles. I have been looking for a set of Rally Wheels for a couple months to replace the American Racing wheels/tires (sold) and the Original Wheel Covers and wheels that I got when I bought it. I have found several that I believe would fit properly. That is they were marked with an RC of 802 or 853 as well as original 1965 wheels (no RC) and most it pretty good shape (likely to be re-chromed). I know they originally came with a register ring, as I can see remnants of the welds in some cases. The ROA website as well as the Riview say that wheels from 1965-70 will fit properly, and further it mentions the register ring. I have done many searches on this and all over the net but have not been able to answer one question definitively. Here is the question - Is it safe to use the a proper wheels from 65-70 with the register ring removed on a pretty much unmolested '65 Riviera (5 on 5", 15"x6", 3 3/8" backspace, 2" or 2 1/8" Center Cap Hole)? Is it save or should I continue searching for proper wheels that still have the register ring? Thank you very much. gord

  19. Marty, I got it from Antique Auto Battery in Youngstown, Ohio. And I got the 850 CCA battery, the G27D Delco/B, and it has yellow caps with black letters. The car was originally delivered in Minnesota, and likely had a heavy duty battery. I started my car up this afternoon after being gone a few weeks and the battery had no problems starting. I do disconnect the negative cable when I know I am not going to use it for a while. Hope this helps Gord
  20. I have one in my 65 Rivi. I got it about 5 months ago. They look great, the folks there a very helpful and easy to work with. It was delivered quickly. Also got two period correct battery cables from them too. Since it hasn't been very long since I got it, not sure about how long it will last, but I can say when it was about zero degrees here a couple of weeks ago, it started the car up with no problems.
