1. Dear Nickel Roadster. My 1920 Stephens restoration goes very slowly. Have had a complicated work with the missing sills. Had to figure out what they should look like as they were missing when I brought this car home. The former owner had replaced the sills with a sheet of plywood and planks from the lumberyard and also nailed the front backrest on place. It was very painful to see. Before I took the body apart I did a very careful examination. Wrote down the existing measurements and used them when I made my first attempt to build up the new framework. I soon realized they were all wrong. Had to tear down parts of the body and take a break, but finally after a lot of searching I got in touch with a guy in Iowa who had a similar car, a 1921 model 96 . He provided most of the measurements I needed. Today the wooden framework looks all right and a skilled tinsmith has promised to take look on the body. Still missing the jumpseats. Best regards Claes
2. The caps are made of aluminium. There are at least three styles that will fit my car. Pressed alumimium, casted aluminium and there is also a version with a riveted faceplate. These caps have an innerdiameter of 71 millimetres from thread to thread.
3. There are at least three types of hubcaps that fit my car. The innerdiameter from thread to thread seems to be around 71 millimetres. The one at the top is made of pressed aluminum. The cap at the middle is made of casted aluminium. The cap at the bottom has a riveted faceplate. Maybe this cap is made of nickleplated brass. If you got hubcaps and parts for my Stephens, please send me a message! Greetings from Claes in Sweden
4. John Nikodym is a friend of mine. He has provided a lot of pictures from his 1919 Stephens and does his best to help me through this renovation. Both of us are members of the WOKR. My Stephens was 90% complete when I found it and I have found the original headlights and a door handle at the AACA forum. Today I am looking for two extra doorhandles and some good aluminum hubcaps. This is a difficult car to renovate, but it is also a challenge.
5. Thank you! I have noticed the motometer at EBay. Will bid on it, but I am afraid that the motometer will be too expensive.
6. Chuck! Thanks for your message. I am not very familiar with this forum and I can`t find the roster with Lowell Stephens. Please enlighten me! Regards Claes
7. Hi again Scalptrader! The Stephens motometer is not the highest priority. My problems are to find 2 door handles and some hubcaps. But I will keep you in mind. Best regards from Claes in Sweden
8. Thanks for your answer but I have already been in touch with Martha and she sent me a friendly answer. Unfortunately she could not help me. Regards from Claes in Sweden
9. Help me to get this Stephens on the road again. Need door handles, hubcaps and a lot of other parts. The door handles are made of brass with a wooden dowel or something similar. The hubcaps are made of aluminum. Innerdiameter 71 millimetres from thread to thread. If you have parts for this car, please contact me!
10. Good hubcaps of aluminum. Innerdiameter aproximately 71 millimetres. If you got something, please contact me.
11. Looking for door handles. They are made of brass. The dowel is made of wood or something similar. If you got what I am looking for, please let me hear from you!
12. I am looking for two door handles of brass. If you have such handles on the shelf, please send me a message!
13. ATTACH=CONFIG]194969[/ATTACH] Parts number at the spring shackle is 990371. What car is it?
14. Hi daydreamer! I appreciate your offer, but I hope the original handles show up. They aren´t entirely hopeless to find. If I fail in my intensions to find them I will use a pair of similar handles that I recently bought. But you are welcome to estimate a price for two new casted handles. Just so I know the price scenario. Regards Claes
15. Misunderstood slightly. I thought you were looking for the same hinge. Will visit my garage and make an accurate measurement with my calliper.
16. If you mean the unusual hinges for my friend´s Daniels? I haven´t got the slightest idea who the manufacturer is. I think it would be nice if he got this car on the road again. There aren´t many left today.
17. My e-mail is claes.rocklin@spray.se Looking forward to get the PDF. Regards Claes
18. Made in aluminium. Innerdiameter 71 millimetres from thread to thread.
19. To Flackmaster Maybe I will show up at Hershey some day. Now I hope that the remaining two door handles and some hubcaps show up!
20. To Flackmaster I have got the headlights from Donald Axelrod. They are good! Thanks again for your help.
21. Hello! I have forgotten much of my finnish so I have better use the english language. All information is welcome so you can send over what you think is sufficient to me. I guess you by snail post mean sending the stuff via the mail man. Thats OK for me, but it might be easier if you scanned the photos and send it all over that way but its up to you. Thanks to the internet I know four Stephens owners in USA. My stay in Helsinki was interesting. I liked that town and lived in Puistola. Visited also Esko Vainio who had an old aeroplan. He also had an old Packard that he had bought from the firedepartement. Esko isn´t with us anymore but his cars still remain.
22. The hubcaps at the front are made of aluminium. Innerdiameter thread to thread is 71 millimetres. There are at least three types of hubcaps that fit my car. The one to the upper left is made of pressed aluminum, the second one at the upper right belong to my car but it seems to be from the plumbers shop. The third one at the lower left has a riveted faceplate. The one at the lower right is made of casted aluminium.
23. To Layden B Yes, you are quite right. I have had the same thoughts as you and may let a workshop restore the hubs in that way. Will have a closer look on it when I remove the rear wheels.
