Thanks for the reply. Mine is on the right front fender. I took the cap off but something else is holding it in there.
I have the chasis manual, so I need to find a copy of the service manual. Can you order those online somewhere?
Also it looks like there is a bracket shaped like a U holding the antenna on and I cannot figure out how to get that off.
On the 65 there is a cap over the antenna on the quarter panel with 2 slots in it. I took a spanner wrench and loosened the nut and everything else comes out form inside the trunk.Great job on getting it on the road.
I think the antenna is outlined in the Service Manual. GM issued a Chassis Manual and a Service manual.
I can copy the pages for my 65 if you want to see if it's the same.

The new exhaust is on and she's on the road! Now i just need to figure out how to get this stupid antenna off.
haha

Does anyone know how to remove the power antenna, i have tried everything and my service book doesn't say anything about it. The motor is good i just need to replace the mast.
-
Brakes adjusted and parts are purchased for a new exhaust..Just need to mount them up then we're back on the road full tilt.

Anyone know if you can use one of those generic power antenna kits that you get at NAPA or Autozone to replace a broken power antenna. The motor and switch on the old one work fine it's just the antenna is broken off. I know that once that happens you pretty much have to replace the whole unit. The guys at the local autoparts stores have absolutely no clue what will work on this car or not.

Getting better mi the hour!!

Thanks!, luckily no one was around with a camera when I was upside down under that dash. I was in positions I've not been in since college!

I don't need the switch just the knob. Or is that what you meant?
I'll be home in a bit and take some pics, I plan to work on undoing the total cluster**** the PO made of the dash wiring tonight.

I have a couple sets of hubcaps, a lot other parts, including diecast trim for both 2 door and 4 door models.
John
Well i know I need the hubcaps...PM me whenever you can.
thx

Are the wiper knobs for a '64 Electra and a '63 Riviera the same? If so, I'm parting out a 63 Riv. I think the knob and button are both there (haven't seen the car that closely for a while.) Does the Electra have wipers with windshield washers? I know the washers were optional on some models.
Ed
I know I can turn on the wipers buy turning the little bolt on the dash switch. It has two speeds, not sure about washers. I assume the knob would just fit over the small rod and down over the hex bolt that i turn with my finger, basically doing the same thing but just with a nice chrome finish.

Hey! I am restoring a 1964 as well! I sure wish mine was in as good of shape as your is! Yours sure cleaned up nice.
as for your question about the skirts.... I think all of the Electra came with skirts. The LeSabres and Wildcats didn't.
Mine is a convertible. The only factory option is doesn't have is an Am/FM radio but it did come with a wonderbar radio with a foot button. I know I am going to wish it wasn't fully optioned whn it comes time to re do all the wiring!
Congrat's on the Electra :-)
Thanks, and honestly I don't know about the skirts. I have only had the car for about 5 days and the only thing i've done so far is put on a new fuel pump and get it some new tires. The skirts were on it when I got it. But I've heard from a few people and from surfing the net that some of the things on my car did or did not come with electras or different models of electras. I'm honestly not sure what the PO did or did not do.
I know that mine has the AM only radio, no AC but does have power windows and seats (still work great), but it also has the skirts as well. Plus it has bench seats, not bucket.

Let me grab some good pictures tomorrow when it's light outside so we can all see what i'm talking about.

Thanks for the info!
Are the AC units your referring too the under the dash ones? Have you ever seen one of those or tried to install one? If it's a huge expensive and effort I'm not going to worry about it, I was just curious what was out there.

So here is a good one for you all..to the Mystery Machine!
My Dad and I were discussing last nite over what kinda car the Electra really is.
Here is our issue.
The car is a 4 door hard top electra 225 w/ a Wildcat engine (offically). BUT I've seen it mentioned on these forums that only the convertible came with Fender skirts. And on the wiki it says that the convertible only came with power windows. Both of which I have. The wiki also says that the convertible had leather seats and I have cloth.
My dad says I have what's called a hardtop-convertible, where the chassis could have been a convertible but they put a hardtop on it at the factory, mostly because I have zero-post. I don't think someone attached a top to a convertible after the factory because i have dash controls for the "vanity lights" in the rear of the car.
Since I'm new and have never actually seen another Electra in person I'm not really sure what I have, all the info I can find seems to contradict one another.

Just doing some wishful thinking but is it even possible to add A/C to a 64 Electra after the fact? The one I have did not come factory with A/C so I don't know how hard it would be to add?
I can't find a good picture on google of an Electra with AC to see whats different on the dash. I'm assuming there are controls that they would have holes for that I don't have on my dash, but i'm just curious to see.
"It's not worth it" is a valid answer also

I am in Monroe NC
Technically I only need 2 hub caps, but the 2 i have look really crummy. They might polish up tho.

The wheel in the trunk is a rim that the Previous Owner said he wanted to put on the car but couldn't find the other 3. I don't really know the history of it or what it is.
I only have 2 wheel covers and they're pitted really bad in between the blades, so if I can find 4 better looking ones that would be swell. Until then i'll be rolling with those solid covers :-/

Hi all,
I'm trying to find a few parts for my 64 Electra 225
I'm looking for the era correct wheel covers for the car ( x4) and I need to find the silver plastic dash knob for the wiper controls and also a "slider" cover for the courtesy features in the middle of the dash. Just the plastic pieces.
Any clues on where I should look?
The local pull-a-part didn't have anything older than 80s.

1964 Electra Service Manual / Chassis Manual
in Buick - Buy/Sell
Posted
I have the chassis manual (but it looks like it was photocopied in the 80s) but I need the service manual as well.
Is there any where you can buy these guys as a PDF download? I don't need them on a CD or printed I want them as a PDF so I can put them on my iPad. Hell I don't even have a CDROM anymore..haha If someone has them as a digital download I"ll be happy to pay the printed price for them. I'm getting ready to start working on the interior of the car and the chassis manual just doesn't cover enough detail to do that.
I've found a couple of sites like books4cars.com but it looks like those are printed.
Thx guys.
