  1. Thanks everyone for the nice comments, I spent 10 years with this resto...

Shoe, either Roscommon or Traverse city will work for me, they are about the same distance from me, I also wanted to mention that back in the early 80's my wife and I did a Non frame off resto on our 1957 GMC 100 when we lived in Arizona, it was green and had the 4 speed also, I only had about $4000.00 invested, we sold it to move back to michigan, I sure miss that truck, I drove it every day, it was 20 years later and I got the bug again with old trucks and found my current 56 Chevy 3100 in Oregon and had it shipped to michigan, well after thousands of dollars invested it's hard to even think at this point of driving it, the body man was picky and so am I, I did just purschased a 24 ft race car trailer and I want to go to some nice judging shows in the future........Rooney3100

  2. Just saw your post from May as I was scrolling around. We have a 56 GMC. I see no one answered your call on helping find a local AACA Club. There are 8 regional chapters listed in the "Antique Automobile" which is the AACA's publication. Contact them (if you haven't already) at phone # 717-534-1910 to find the closest one.

    Good luck!!

Thank you Shoe for the advise, I will call that number, is your 56 GMC all original? Rooney3100

  3. Venting is easy, there are any number of types of roof vents for travel trailers, some with fans some without - there are also covers available for them that they can be left open in all weather and even when traveling. They are easy to install.

Thanks my3buicks for that info, When I find a trailer I will definetly check that option out, I'd like to find a 24 foot trailer so I can put a winch in to pull the truck on, also would like to have the drop down in the back option( not sure what that's called), I seen a trailer with that option before, does anyone know what a real good brand is to purchase, that tows real nice and I can get fully finished on the inside? any one with one for sale? THANKS STEVE M

  4. Hello, I hoping someone can help me with this question...

My 1956 Chevy truck restoration is complete and I need to move it out of the attached garage I have, I live in the northeastern side of Lower Michigan and I do need to get an enclosed trailer to take this to some nice shows, I can't build another garage at this time because of my job security, I was thinking of just storing the truck in a trailer all year around, we do get cold weather in the winter months along with plenty of snow, the summers are getting hotter also...

Does anyone have any info they could share about year round storage in an enclosed trailer? I do plan on getting one that is fully finshed on the inside, is there a way of climate controlling it? THANKS STEVE M

  5. Classy looking truck, excellent restoration job.Are those the correct hubcaps?

The truck originally came with the correct Ivory White with the black bowtie hubcaps, these needed alot of work to get them perfect, I found these reproduced chrome hubcaps with the Ivory centers that where a perfect match and made very correct, so I resorted to those instead of putting alot of money in my origianl one's, These where an option back in 1956 for my truck from the factory.........

  6. Thanks everyone for the Nice replies....

It was quite an undertaking restoring this truck living in a small community area without the resources that the big cities have, but I did send alot of parts away to have them professionally rebuilt, I have tons of money trying to cover every detail such as Mostly NOS parts for the numbers, paint colors & codes for a perfect match (this truck had all the original paint in areas), I did have to resort to some Newer Remanufactured parts thou, there was not much to go on the Task Force trucks for information reguarding Pictures, most where done in lithograph, I assembled this truck using a Factory Assembly Manual.....

I wanted to do this restoration to keep it Original Factory Condition so others in the future can see just what they had to drive in 1956.........:)

  7. This is my 1956 Chevrolet Task Force 3100 Pickup, It has just undergone a 10 year complete frame off restoration, so I'm pleased to say it's FINALLY DONE.

I originally got the truck from Oregon and moved it here in Michigan, I drove it for about 2 weeks, then decided to have it restored, I had a local restorer of vintage cars take on the task of doing my truck like his cars, he's old and slow but very good at body work and painting.

I assembled everything on the truck and put as many NOS parts I could find to keep this a Numbers Matching truck,( Date code glass, Original paint colors etc.) this was a very original truck when I purchased it, I tried to cover every detail from the front to the back, I hope the pictures show that, I plan on getting a trailer for it and taking it to some real good shows to get it judged for Points.

Can anyone help me with info to show this Truck of mine off and joining AACA????

    Thanks..... STEVE MAVEAL
